11. Loiter on or about school property.<br />

12. Gamble on school property or at school functions.<br />

13. Refuse to comply with any reasonable order of identifiable school district officials<br />

performing their duties.<br />

14. Willfully incite others to commit any of the acts prohibited by this code.<br />

B. Penalties<br />

Persons who violate this code shall be subject to the following penalties:<br />

1. Visitors: Their authorization, if any, to remain on school grounds or at the school<br />

function shall be withdrawn and they shall be directed to leave the premises. If they<br />

refuse to leave, they shall be subject to ejection.<br />

2. <strong>Student</strong>s: They shall be subject to disciplinary action as the facts may warrant, in<br />

accordance with the due process requirements.<br />

3. Staff members shall be subject to warning, reprimand, suspension or dismissal as the<br />

facts may warrant in accordance with any legal rights they may have.<br />

C. Enforcement<br />

The Superintendent, building principal, or their designee shall be responsible for enforcing<br />

the conduct required by this code.<br />

When the administrator or their designee see an individual engaged in prohibited conduct,<br />

which in their judgment does not pose any immediate threat of injury to persons or property, the<br />

administrator or their designee shall tell the individual that the conduct is prohibited and<br />

attempt to persuade the individual to stop. The administrator or their designee shall also warn<br />

the individual of the consequences for failing to stop. If the person refuses to stop engaging in<br />

the prohibited conduct, or if the person’s conduct poses an immediate threat of injury to<br />

persons or property, the administrator or their designee shall have the individual removed<br />

immediately from school property.<br />

XVI. Additional Information<br />

A. <strong>Student</strong> Internet Use<br />

<strong>Hoosic</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> provides students with computer and Internet access for educational<br />

purposes and research consistent with the district’s mission and goals. Safeguards including<br />

but not limited to, security and filtering programs, as well as consistent manual monitoring of<br />

the district’s network, have been put into place to protect students and school personnel from<br />

access to questionable or obscene content.<br />

The purpose of the Internet is to provide access to unique resources. Our goal in<br />

providing this service to students is to promote educational excellence within the <strong>Hoosic</strong> <strong>Valley</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong>s by facilitating resource sharing and innovation. The use of the computer network is a<br />

privilege, not a right! To remain eligible as a user, the use of your account must be in support of<br />

and consistent with the educational objectives of the District.<br />

Internet use on personal electronic devices is not permitted in school or at school functions.<br />

1. Acceptable Uses:<br />

a. All use of the Internet must be in support of educationally related inquiry.<br />

b. Network user ID’s are ONLY to be used by the authorized owner of the account<br />

c. All use of messaging software, including e-mail, must be in support of educationally<br />

related inquiry.<br />

d. Only school-provided devices may be connected to the network.<br />
