Branch Outputs<br />

Managing the Prison to ensure security and good order is maintained in line with its business plan, resource<br />

management budget and statutory requirements;<br />

Managing the Prison to ensure the care, well being and development needs <strong>of</strong> prisoners are met;<br />

Developing effective community and industry programs aimed at providing reparation to the community; and<br />

Managing the delivery and encouraging prisoner participation programs aimed at preventing re-<strong>of</strong>fending.<br />

Role <strong>of</strong> the Position<br />

The Cashier provides administrative support to the Business Manager. The position is also responsible for the<br />

control <strong>of</strong> all petty cash, processing <strong>of</strong> invoices from suppliers, prison and staff recoups, maintaining prisoner<br />

gratuities records and telephone requisites, travel bookings for staff and prisoners, management and maintenance<br />

<strong>of</strong> fleet (Vehicle) records, and coordination <strong>of</strong> various administrative systems.<br />

Responsibilities <strong>of</strong> this Position<br />

Service Delivery<br />

Ensures delivery <strong>of</strong> quality administrative and financial services to all internal and external customers. Provides<br />

administrative support to the Business Manager. Directly responsible for both prison and staff financial recoups,<br />

processing <strong>of</strong> invoices from suppliers, maintain petty cash transactions, prisoner gratuities records and updates,<br />

prisoner telephone requisites, travel bookings for staff and prisoners and maintenance <strong>of</strong> various administrative<br />

systems.<br />

Participates constructively and positively within workplace teams to achieve tasks<br />

Ensures compliance with legislation and corporate policies, practices and procedures, providing advice to<br />

appropriate personnel on issues impacting the prison.<br />

Accesses and applies identified and appropriate information to achieve tasks and undertake document control and<br />

retrieval. Maintains confidentiality as appropriate under legislative requirements.<br />

Develops and maintains networks with relevant Corporate <strong>Services</strong> personnel and external forums.<br />

Participates in the identification <strong>of</strong> and applies opportunities for continuous improvement within the team.<br />

Achieves tasks through effective and efficient use <strong>of</strong> allotted physical and financial resources. Provides information<br />

Desirable<br />

Knowledge/Experience Knowledge and understanding <strong>of</strong> the Financial<br />

Administration and Audit Act, and <strong>Department</strong> policies<br />

and procedures<br />

Knowledge and understanding <strong>of</strong> legislation, regulations,<br />

instructions, policies and procedures including those<br />

applicable to prisoner gratuities payments.<br />

Please note the following additional pre-appointment requirements to comply with the Prisons Act and Regulations<br />

and applicable <strong>Department</strong>al policy and procedures. A successful applicant must:<br />

• Receive a clearance through a National Criminal History check and the <strong>Department</strong>al integrity assessment;<br />

• Possess a current ‘C’ class motor vehicle driver’s licence;<br />
