Dear <strong>Brimmer</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>May</strong> Middle School Students:<br />

<strong>For</strong> <strong><strong>you</strong>r</strong> <strong>summer</strong> <strong><strong>read</strong>ing</strong>, <strong>you</strong> <strong>will</strong> <strong>read</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>least</strong> four books, including those th<strong>at</strong> are<br />

required for <strong><strong>you</strong>r</strong> classes. If <strong>you</strong> are required to <strong>read</strong> fewer than four books, <strong>you</strong> may<br />

choose to <strong>read</strong> any other books th<strong>at</strong> interest <strong>you</strong>; browse the bookshelves in libraries<br />

<strong>and</strong> bookstores <strong>and</strong> get recommend<strong>at</strong>ions from our librarians or from any of the<br />

other gre<strong>at</strong> <strong>read</strong>ers in our community. Also, remember th<strong>at</strong> teachers <strong>will</strong> assign the<br />

first work of the year assuming th<strong>at</strong> <strong>you</strong> have al<strong>read</strong>y <strong>read</strong> the required books. You<br />

should <strong>read</strong> these books toward the end of the <strong>summer</strong>; then they <strong>will</strong> still be fresh in<br />

<strong><strong>you</strong>r</strong> mind when <strong>you</strong> come back to school. But bear in mind th<strong>at</strong> <strong><strong>you</strong>r</strong> teachers have<br />

chosen these books knowing th<strong>at</strong> <strong>you</strong>’ll be <strong><strong>read</strong>ing</strong> them in the <strong>summer</strong>; th<strong>at</strong> is,<br />

they’ve chosen books th<strong>at</strong> are fun to <strong>read</strong>. So do <strong><strong>you</strong>r</strong> work—<strong>and</strong> enjoy it!<br />
