It has been said of the Hitchens/Blue household, a reward that nobody rises from the table until the
distant thump of the newspaper is heard at the front door. It has been whispered (above the discreet
etudes of the man at the grand piano) that reformed characters have resumed their old and depraved

is modest and sober. Here, you may speak solemnly of the life of Thomas Jefferson or the dire effect of
consumption of the lungs on the closing moments of George Orwell. In book-lined and candle-lit context,
the seeker after instruction may also graze in safety and cradle a signed fi rst edition in his or her
