The Rainbow Singers perform during SC4’s 11th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration<br />

on Jan. 21. The event featured a musical and dramatic celebration of King’s legacy with a<br />

diverse variety of musicians, musical styles, dramatic performances and dance. The festivities<br />

were sponsored by the SC4 Global Diversity Advisory Council, Port Huron branch of the National<br />

Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Times Herald.<br />

Huron campus to study how SC4 has incorporated<br />

The Biakuye Percussion Group performs at one of two free performances of<br />

traditional African dance and music Feb. 21 at SC4. The first performance was<br />

part of the college’s Thursday at Noon Concert Series. The second performance<br />

was presented by SC4’s Global Diversity Advisory Council. The concerts were<br />

funded in part by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the<br />

Michigan Humanities Council.<br />

A total of 331 people attended the Nov. 3<br />

SC4 Foundation Red Carpet Affair, which<br />

raised $42,577 to benefit scholarships<br />

and capital projects at SC4. The theme<br />

was “Cirque du Soleil on the Red Carpet,”<br />

featuring an extravaganza of performers. Of<br />

the total raised, $5,670 went toward visual<br />

and performing arts student scholarships<br />

and $36,907 went toward expansion of the<br />

college’s Natural Science Museum. This year’s<br />

Red Carpet Affair will be Saturday, Nov. 2.<br />

Visitors check out the Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame during its grand opening<br />

Jan. 26. The event celebrated the hall of fame’s new location on SC4’s<br />

campus. The hall is on the lower level of SC4’s North Building.<br />

15. During the meeting, attendees networked<br />

with other alumni and community members<br />

and heard summaries of alumni association<br />

events and efforts. The <strong>2013</strong> annual meeting is<br />

scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 14.<br />
