Tractor series runs on biodiesel
T
he heart of Agco’s new heavyduty,
mid-range LT Series tractors
is the B100-approved engine. The
4.4-litre power plant delivers 85-
PTO-horsepower to the LT85A and
the 95-PTO-hp to the LT95A.
The B100 approval means the
SisuDiesel engine can run on dieselbiodiesel
blends, or 100 per cent
biodiesel. “Of course, it is vital that
the biodiesel meet approved ASTM
D6751 quality standards and service
recommendations be followed,” says
Tom Weir, Agco’s mid-range and
specialty tractor marketing manager.
The bottom line, Agco claims, is a
four-cylinder design that delivers the
performance of a six-cylinder engine
with greater economy in a more
compact package.
The head design improves control
of air and fuel mix for a better burn
to lower fuel consumption with high
Agco LT 85A
efficiency even at high power.
LT tractors was designed with the
diversified livestock producer in
mind, says Weir. They combine the
versatility of utility tractors with the
ruggedness of row-crop tractors.
Customers can select from openplatform
or cab models, and two-or
four-wheel drive. “Buyers can custom-design
a tractor to match their
needs and their budget,” says Weir.
The new models are equipped
with an advanced semi-powershift
transmission, high-flow hydraulics
and a rear end built to handle one
of the highest hitch lift capacities in
the mid-range market. The tractors
also have a single-piece hood that
can be raised up and out of the way
for easier servicing.
