Student Development Centre<br />
The Student Development Centre is<br />
located on the fourth floor of the Schmon<br />
Tower and focuses on enhancing student<br />
development through workshops,<br />
services, and partnerships.<br />
They offer many services that include:<br />
• Aboriginal Student Services is an<br />
advocate centre, working on your<br />
behalf as a liaison between the student<br />
and the faculty or administration, and<br />
encourages peer support.<br />
• You can register with the SDC to<br />
request a tutor or to become a tutor.<br />
• Learning Skills provides free academic<br />
support for all <strong>Brock</strong> students to help<br />
them achieve their full potential in<br />
<strong>University</strong> and beyond. Drop-in help is<br />
available at the Learning Centre in the<br />
Learning Commons with essay writing,<br />
math/science skills, exam preparation<br />
and more.<br />

Counselling Services<br />
The Counselling staff offers services<br />
for students who are experiencing<br />
personal/social difficulties while studying<br />
at <strong>Brock</strong>. Confidential Personal Counselling<br />
is available to <strong>Brock</strong> students at no<br />
cost. To make an appointment call<br />
905-688-5550 ext. 4750 during regular<br />
office hours (8:30 - 12:00, 1:00 - 4:30) or<br />
you can go to the Student Development<br />
Centre (ST400) during office hours and<br />
make the call from there. These highly<br />
trained counsellors are there to help you.<br />

International Student Services<br />
Welcome to Canada! Although the<br />
culture here will be different from what<br />
you are used to, we hope the transition<br />
will be easy and fun. As an international<br />
student, there are many resources<br />
available to you.<br />
• The International Student Orientation<br />
is held in September. This is when you<br />
will sign up for your health insurance<br />
(UHIP) and will be given more<br />
information about fees and other<br />
important items.<br />

for more information<br />
about permits and visas, Canadian<br />
culture, health insurance, accommodation,<br />
and much more. You can also<br />
join the “International Services, <strong>Brock</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong>” Facebook group to connect<br />
with other international students.<br />
• The International Student Center is<br />
located beside East Academic and the<br />
main office is GLN210.<br />
Mentorship Plus<br />
• Mentorship Plus assists current<br />
students in their transition from<br />
high school to university, and then<br />
ultimately from university to full time<br />
employment.<br />
• Registering is easy—just go to<br />
mentormatch.brocku.ca and fill out<br />
your information.<br />
• You will be matched up with a senior<br />
student who is in the same program<br />
and has the same interests as you. They<br />
will help you throughout the year to<br />
show you around campus, answer any<br />
questions, and give advice.<br />
• Workshops are offered in topics such as<br />
