true freshman
• Rushed for 437 yards and four touchdowns on 87 carries (5.0
avg.) and added one reception for 23 yards
• Replacing an injured James Conner in the second quarter of
the Syracuse game, James rushed for a career-high 122 yards
on 19 carries (6.4 avg.)
• Following his Syracuse performance, James played a complementary
role to Conner in the regular-season finale at Miami
and rushed for 58 yards on 11 carries (5.3 avg.) and a TD; his
touchdown covered 15 yards and gave Pitt a 28-20 thirdquarter
