<strong>The</strong> IT industry in <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> has been developing in remarkable speed in the past 40<br />
years and this could not have happened without <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> <strong>Computer</strong> Society (HKCS)’s<br />
contribution in fostering communication and cooperation between IT parties from<br />
different sectors <strong>of</strong> society. I am honored to take this opportunity to congratulate HKCS<br />
for its success in the past 40 years and wish HKCS all the best in the coming future.<br />

On behalf <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> Internet Service Providers Association (HKISPA), I would like to<br />
extend my heartfelt congratulations to the <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> <strong>Computer</strong> Society (HKCS)’s 40th<br />
Anniversary.<br />
Over the past few centuries, the local information technology industry has witnessed how<br />
innovative technologies benefited enterprises and our daily lives that leaded to <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> being<br />
the major IT hub in the Asia-Pacific region. At the same time, China was experiencing the strong<br />
economic boom, even under the situation <strong>of</strong> global financial tsunami. It is now one <strong>of</strong> the most<br />
affluent nations and the largest IT market in the world. China has become one <strong>of</strong> the worldds largest<br />
IT market. A lot <strong>of</strong> business opportunities and ventures are arising.<br />
HKISPA believes the HKCS with its great success in the last 39 years, will continue its leading<br />
position in <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> IT industry and fostering the IT technology and resources synergies between<br />
the Mainland and <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong>.<br />
This yearrs HKICC theme is IT Innovation Value Creation & Economic Transformationn. It<br />
perfectly fits the current global looking for innovationss atmosphere and peoplees expectation <strong>of</strong><br />
change for the betterr. I hope the HKICC 2009 be another great successful event <strong>of</strong> HKCS and<br />
wish HKCS continue great success in the industry.<br />

To Commemorate the 40 th Anniversary <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> <strong>Computer</strong> Society<br />
Four decades <strong>of</strong> development in computer industry is equating to four centuries in<br />
other disciplines. From the establishment to this moment, <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> <strong>Computer</strong><br />
Society is taking an active role in leading pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in Information and<br />
Communications Technology (ICT) in <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> and the region.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Society organizes series <strong>of</strong> events to enrich members and the industry players<br />
such as Information & Communications Technology Awards, <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> Information<br />
Technology Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Certification, <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> International <strong>Computer</strong><br />
Conference and etc.<br />
Besides, the Society represents the IT pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in soliciting the government on IT<br />
policies such as Digital 21, policy address <strong>of</strong> Chief Executive, Interoperability<br />
framework and other related issues.<br />
