CURVES AND LIGHT
Designed by Jordi Henrich and Olga Tarrasó further to the redevelopment of
public lighting in the city of Barcelona, the Hernandez/Fernandez ensembles
have been developed based on an optical compartment that conducts light.
Different models of lighting columns - made of Corten steel - are available.
The height and inclination of the model selected will vary depending on the
site to be illuminated (pedestrian zone, intersection, etc.).
The design of the lighting column and the principle of light conduction are
the factors that confer on the ensemble a remarkable harmony of shapes
and light effects.
The Hernandez model is based on a light-conducting optical compartment
3.90 metres in length with an inclination of 20°.
There is also a Hernandez Mini with the same length but with
an inclination of 25°.
compartment of 3.90 metres with an
inclination of 50°.
Mini version (length 2.50 m)
with an inclination of 15°.
DISTRIBUTES AND
CONDUCTS LIGHT
90°
The principle of the optical compartment is founded on
the conduction of light by means of an easily
accessible single source. The luminous flux is directed
by a reflector all the way along the box, which is called
the light distributor, before traversing the prisms of the
refractor in the direction of the zone to be illuminated.
This principle of lighting is characterised by a beautiful
uniformity of light over the entire surface of the
refractor and by true visual comfort.
Conducted all the way along the box, the luminous
flux then traverses the refractor prisms and is
directed towards the zone to be illuminated.
RECESSED LUMINAIRE
The luminaire recessed in the inclined part of the lighting column is made up of
two elements: on one hand, a box containing the reflector, the lamp and the
control gear, and on the other hand, the light-conducting element composed of
an aluminium box and a refractor. The whole unit is closed off by means of a
glass protector.
ADDITIONAL OPTICAL COMPARTMENT
As an option, for the four models of ensembles, an additional Sealsafe ® (IP 66)
optical compartment may be installed in the base of the inclined part.
This functionality may be justified by the need for additional luminous flux on
the road surface.
MAINTENANCE
The lamp and the control gear are easily accessible from one end of the
luminaire. This position allows the operator not to disrupt the flow of traffic
during maintenance activities.
For the electrical connection and changing the lamp, it is sufficient to open the
box giving access to the lamp-support plug and the control gear plate.
