Spring camp this year is being held at Norton Heath. It comprises two days of training, lessons, test<br />

riding and other activities.<br />

Accommodation in your own horsebox or at B&B for riders, ponies will be stabled in permanent boxes.<br />

Provisional timetable:<br />

5 April<br />

16.00 on Arrive and stable horse/exercise as necessary<br />

18.00 Meet in bar for welcome drinks<br />

18.30 Supper<br />

19.30 Team games and entertainment!<br />

6 April<br />

09.00 – 13.00 Lessons with Trainers:<br />

09.00 – 13.00 Workshops covering some of the following subjects: Rider fitness, Horse Massage,<br />

Polework for <strong>Dressage</strong>, Nutrition and also day one of the Proficiency Tests.<br />

13.00 – 14.00 Lunch in the café<br />

14.00-16.00 Test riding – all levels plus sitting in with the judges, writing and helping.<br />

17.00 Evening stables and feeding.<br />

18.00 Meet in the bar for a round up of the day and collect sheets.<br />

18.30 Dinner in the café<br />

19.00 Evening Entertainment<br />

7 April<br />

09.00 – 13.00 Lessons with Trainers:<br />

09.30 – 12.00 Workshops & day two of the Proficiency Tests.<br />

12.30 – 13.30 Lunch in the cafe<br />

13.30 – 15.45 Competition - you need to ride the same test that you rode on the first day.<br />

16.00 In the cafe for prize giving and summing up.


KIT TO BRING WITH YOU<br />

• Yourself<br />

• Your horse<br />

• Feeds for the two days<br />

• Hay and bedding<br />

• Haynets, Water buckets, Feed buckets<br />

• Tack and tack cleaning equipment<br />

• Stable rugs and bandages etc<br />

• Boots, bandages, whips and spurs as required<br />

• Grooming kit<br />

• Training clothes and competition clothes<br />

• Waterproofs<br />

• Drinks and chocolate!<br />

• Bedding can either be purchased at Norton Heath or brought with you – shavings please, as most of<br />

the stables already have some in and can be topped up.<br />

• Feeding times will be 7.30am and 5.30pm. We want to try and feed at the same time so that horses<br />

are not left kicking their doors because their neighbour has been fed and they haven’t! If you are<br />

staying off site, please ask one of your stable mates to put your horse’s breakfast in.<br />

• Don’t forget to put on the application form which test you want to ride (and don’t forget to learn it –<br />

although I’m sure there will be enough people around to call for you!)<br />

• The cafe will be open from 8am each day serving food and drinks.<br />

• The second day of tests will be run as a competition. Riders need to be in show gear and horses<br />

plaited if you would like.<br />

• If you wish to get hook-up for your lorry, please apply direct to Norton Heath (01277 824860) to book<br />

it.<br />

• If you are going to bring someone with you on foot (ie a parent), they are welcome to join in any of<br />

the activities and workshops. Please include £7 per night for the cost of their meal.<br />

• The final timetable and any other instructions will be emailed out to you in the weeks before camp<br />

begins.

<strong>British</strong> <strong>Dressage</strong> <strong>BYRDS</strong> Training Camp Terms and Conditions<br />

1. <strong>British</strong> <strong>Dressage</strong>, its associates, organisers and venue will not accept responsibility for anything<br />

that may happen to riders, their horses, property or helpers in connection with or arising from<br />

this camp. It will be considered a condition of application that each person agrees to indemnify<br />

BD, its associates, the organisers and the venue against any legal action arising there from.<br />

2. All applications must be made on the correct form available from Katharine Perry and are only<br />

accepted by post with the correct fee.<br />

3. Any withdrawals should be made in writing to the organiser.<br />

4. Any WD’s that are made more than 7 days prior to camp are 75% refundable. Any that are<br />

made 5 - 7 days prior to camp are 50 % refundable and any that are made after this period are<br />

non re – fundable.<br />

5. Unfortunately stable booking fees can’t be refunded unless replaced by another booking.<br />

6. It is of the understanding that the organisers will choose the appropriate trainer for the rider<br />

from the information given on the application form. Riders may not change lesson times and or<br />

trainers without the permission of the organiser.<br />

7. Riders must be aware that they should be available for tuition between the hours of 8:30 am<br />

and 5:30 pm on both days of the camp.<br />

8. Any tuition that is missed during the camp is non refundable.<br />

9. Riders must wear a safety helmet to the current standard and must wear appropriate riding<br />

equipment whilst mounted.<br />

10. If a rider falls from the horse during a lesson the procedure as per the BD rule book will come in<br />

to effect.<br />

11. Any complaints should be made in writing to Katharine Perry and will be treated in the strictest<br />

confidence.<br />
