APPLICATION FORM FOR BYRDS CAMP

Spring camp this year is being held at Norton Heath. It comprises two days of training, lessons, test
riding and other activities.
Accommodation in your own horsebox or at B&B for riders, ponies will be stabled in permanent boxes.
Provisional timetable:
5 April
16.00 on Arrive and stable horse/exercise as necessary
18.00 Meet in bar for welcome drinks
18.30 Supper
19.30 Team games and entertainment!
6 April
09.00 – 13.00 Lessons with Trainers:
09.00 – 13.00 Workshops covering some of the following subjects: Rider fitness, Horse Massage,
Polework for Dressage, Nutrition and also day one of the Proficiency Tests.
13.00 – 14.00 Lunch in the café
14.00-16.00 Test riding – all levels plus sitting in with the judges, writing and helping.
17.00 Evening stables and feeding.
18.00 Meet in the bar for a round up of the day and collect sheets.
18.30 Dinner in the café
19.00 Evening Entertainment
7 April
09.00 – 13.00 Lessons with Trainers:
09.30 – 12.00 Workshops & day two of the Proficiency Tests.
12.30 – 13.30 Lunch in the cafe
13.30 – 15.45 Competition - you need to ride the same test that you rode on the first day.
16.00 In the cafe for prize giving and summing up.

KIT TO BRING WITH YOU
• Yourself
• Your horse
• Feeds for the two days
• Hay and bedding
• Haynets, Water buckets, Feed buckets
• Tack and tack cleaning equipment
• Stable rugs and bandages etc
• Boots, bandages, whips and spurs as required
• Grooming kit
• Training clothes and competition clothes
• Waterproofs
• Drinks and chocolate!
• Bedding can either be purchased at Norton Heath or brought with you – shavings please, as most of
the stables already have some in and can be topped up.
• Feeding times will be 7.30am and 5.30pm. We want to try and feed at the same time so that horses
are not left kicking their doors because their neighbour has been fed and they haven’t! If you are
staying off site, please ask one of your stable mates to put your horse’s breakfast in.
• Don’t forget to put on the application form which test you want to ride (and don’t forget to learn it –
although I’m sure there will be enough people around to call for you!)
• The cafe will be open from 8am each day serving food and drinks.
• The second day of tests will be run as a competition. Riders need to be in show gear and horses
plaited if you would like.
• If you wish to get hook-up for your lorry, please apply direct to Norton Heath (01277 824860) to book
it.
• If you are going to bring someone with you on foot (ie a parent), they are welcome to join in any of
the activities and workshops. Please include £7 per night for the cost of their meal.
• The final timetable and any other instructions will be emailed out to you in the weeks before camp
begins.

British Dressage BYRDS Training Camp Terms and Conditions
1. British Dressage, its associates, organisers and venue will not accept responsibility for anything
that may happen to riders, their horses, property or helpers in connection with or arising from
this camp. It will be considered a condition of application that each person agrees to indemnify
BD, its associates, the organisers and the venue against any legal action arising there from.
2. All applications must be made on the correct form available from Katharine Perry and are only
accepted by post with the correct fee.
3. Any withdrawals should be made in writing to the organiser.
4. Any WD’s that are made more than 7 days prior to camp are 75% refundable. Any that are
made 5 - 7 days prior to camp are 50 % refundable and any that are made after this period are
non re – fundable.
5. Unfortunately stable booking fees can’t be refunded unless replaced by another booking.
6. It is of the understanding that the organisers will choose the appropriate trainer for the rider
from the information given on the application form. Riders may not change lesson times and or
trainers without the permission of the organiser.
7. Riders must be aware that they should be available for tuition between the hours of 8:30 am
and 5:30 pm on both days of the camp.
8. Any tuition that is missed during the camp is non refundable.
9. Riders must wear a safety helmet to the current standard and must wear appropriate riding
equipment whilst mounted.
10. If a rider falls from the horse during a lesson the procedure as per the BD rule book will come in
to effect.
11. Any complaints should be made in writing to Katharine Perry and will be treated in the strictest
confidence.
