Saturday, May 11, 2013 we will
be going to find the water falls
at Matthiessen State Park. This
time of year there is plenty of
water running so the falls will be
looking good. For those of you
who have never been there it is
well worth the trip. A word of
warning though: The hike down
to the waterfalls and to the canyon
and back again you will be
climbing up and down a lot of
steps. Also, some areas in the
canyon can be difficult. This can
be tuff especially carrying camera
equipment. Also wear a pair
of boots and take dry socks and
shoes to change into for the ride
home. Most of the time, some
areas in the canyon can be muddy
and wet. After Matthiessen
Park, if you feel like it, we will
venture over to Starved Rock.
They have a snack bar for lunch
if you want. We can then go to
some of the upper canyons like
Kaskaskia or Illinois. Staved
Rock is also having their "Art
in The Park" that weekend. We
will meet at Immanuel Lutheran
Church about 7:45 AM and
leave at 8:00 AM. We will carpool
and caravan from there. If

On July 21, 2013 Richard and Susan Day will be hosting our Camera
Club on their property in Alma Illinois for a one day workshop
and outing. They have 63 acres of prairie and forest dedicated to
nature. There is a wide variety of wildflowers to attract butterflies,
two wetlands to attract frogs and dragonflies, plus they get a variety
of birds. Our club has been down there a couple of times in the
past. This workshop requires a minimum of 8 people and a maximum
of 15. The fee is $50 per person. Alma IL. is just off I-57 just
North of Salem IL about 50 miles South of Effingham. It's about 200
miles from Peoria and takes approximately 3 1/2 hours to get there.
Because of this, some of the members make reservations in Salem IL.
for the night before the workshop to avoid a long drive on Sunday
morning. There is a Super 8 and a Comfort Inn in Salem just off I-57.
Other members choose to drive down on Sunday morning. Richard
begins the day with a short overview on how to photograph butterflies,
dragonflies, and flowers. He and Susan are available during the
day to help and answer questions on photography, species ID and
gardening or habitat questions. I am beginning a sign up for those
who want to go. I will have a sign-up sheet at the club meetings. You

KodaRoamers vs Peoria Camera Club
Our Peoria Camera Club is the host for this Challenge, we have
chosen “Power” as the theme...
Here are the rules:
• “Power” images can be anything that exhibits or implies power.
• Images must have been exposed after January 15, 2013.
• Image submissions must be digital.
• Image size limits are 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels high.
• File naming convention is:
image# 14 - your competition number - title - .jpg
Example: 001-14-079-Steam Engine.jpg
• If you do not have a competition number call Rich Seeman at
309-361-8902 or email him at RLS1940@hotmail.com.
• Turn in is between November 1st and December 1st.
• Send up to 8 “Power” images to Rich Seeman at
RLS1940@hotmail.com.
From all images submitted, a PCC team will select 50 to be entered
from our club. If possible, everyone submitting images will have at
least one image entered in the Challenge. The judging is tentatively
scheduled for January 14, 2014.

The 2013 fair dates are July 12-20. Deadline for entries is June 14, 2013.
Turn-in will be Friday and Saturday, June 28-29. Judging will be on the
30 th of June. lt’s time to start getting your thoughts together on what
you're entering this year. Last year was one of the best shows in a long
time. l suspect it will be even better this year.
THEME HOI 2013 is: Babies in Action, Six Months to 2 Years. (No posed portraits
for this class/lot). Mix it up and use your imagination. You can turn in 4
images, color, monochrome, or they can be mixed. Size 8”x10” or 8" x
12" mounted on 11” x 14” foam board, with a $40.00 prize for the
winner. Due to the popularity of this class we have added a $20.00
runner up prize. Judging will based on imagination and composition.
The PANORAMIC PRINT is new for 2013. You can turn-in 4 images, color,
or monochrome, they can be mixed. Image size must be 6" X 18" mounted
on foam board 8" x 20”, with a $10. Prize for the winner. At the time
of turn-in, tell the handlers it’s for the “Theme and/or Panoramic” competitions
Class/C1 & C2. They will be judged separately.
