Destry Allen Memorial Scholarship
The Destry Allen Memorial Scholarship rewards a band or orchestra student who best demonstrates perseverance
through adversity during their high school years. Destry played trumpet in Central’s band. He would have
been a senior and graduated with the 2005 class but for his untimely death the summer of 2004. Funds to
support this scholarship have been provided by Destry’s family and his friends. The amount of this annual
scholarship is $1,000, renewable for one year if recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA.
Application Due Date: March 1, annually
This electronic application form can be completed and saved to your computer. Completed applications must be
submitted to the senior counselor by March 1. A selection committee—which includes the family members of Destry
Allen and educators—will name the recipient. The committee will notify the Salina Education Foundation of the name
of the chosen recipient no later than April 15.
ELIGIBILITY
The Destry Allen Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a Salina Central High School senior who will pursue a
course of study at an undergraduate or technical (accredited) institution. The award will be made on an objective and
nondiscriminatory basis. The donor also stipulates that the successful candidate shall exhibit passion for music and
shall have overcome adversity.
