<strong>Destry</strong> <strong>Allen</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong><br />

The <strong>Destry</strong> <strong>Allen</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> rewards a band or orchestra student who best demonstrates perseverance<br />

through adversity during their high school years. <strong>Destry</strong> played trumpet in Central’s band. He would have<br />

been a senior and graduated with the 2005 class but for his untimely death the summer of 2004. Funds to<br />

support this scholarship have been provided by <strong>Destry</strong>’s family and his friends. The amount of this annual<br />

scholarship is $1,000, renewable for one year if recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA.<br />

Application Due Date: March 1, annually<br />

This electronic application form can be completed and saved to your computer. Completed applications must be<br />

submitted to the senior counselor by March 1. A selection committee—which includes the family members of <strong>Destry</strong><br />

<strong>Allen</strong> and educators—will name the recipient. The committee will notify the <strong>Salina</strong> <strong>Education</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> of the name<br />

of the chosen recipient no later than April 15.<br />

ELIGIBILITY<br />

The <strong>Destry</strong> <strong>Allen</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> is awarded annually to a <strong>Salina</strong> Central High School senior who will pursue a<br />

course of study at an undergraduate or technical (accredited) institution. The award will be made on an objective and<br />

nondiscriminatory basis. The donor also stipulates that the successful candidate shall exhibit passion for music and<br />

shall have overcome adversity.<br />
