The Doxa Deo Foundation represents a range of projects, all aimed at making a contribution to improve society by raising City Changers, empowering the disempowered, and working to make a difference in the welfare of the people of South Africa by engaging positively in eight spheres of society. The eight Spheres being: Education, the Arts, Business, the Church, Social Society, Government, Media and Sport. SCHOOLS [Children/Education/ECD/BEE SED/Tax] We believe that Christ must be exalted in every sphere of society. We have established schools to model a Christ Centred Education model. We have seen many children discover their identity in Christ and potential in Him. We are raising City Changers who will make a difference in every area of involvement. There are currently three Doxa Deo Schools which are situated at the following sites: 1. Eastern suburbs of Pretoria, 2. Edendale, close to Mamelodi, 3. Hartbeespoort at the Xanadu Eco Estate. The schools have enrolled approximately 1 700 learners. There are also two pre-schools: 1. Kinderland in Centurion, 2. POPKids in Salvokop The pre-schools have enrolled approximately 200 children. There is the possibility that an existing pre-school based in Garankuwa with 60 children will in future be managed by Doxa Deo Schools in association with POPKids. Impact • Raising children knowing who they are in Christ • Equipping children for Kingdom expansion • Excellent academic results Investment Opportunities • Bursary fund for children in need • Capital investment • Investment in technology EDUCATIONAL ENGAGEMENT [Education/HIV/Aids/Poverty Alleviation/Discipleship] We are acutely aware that there are many felt needs to address in the private and public schools of our cities. Our children are calling out for direction and we have the answer. We need to introduce them to Christ and disciple them in order for them to find their purpose in life. We also want to reach, serve and have an impact in the lives of parents, teachers and principals. We have the following programmes reaching the major role players in schools: • TREE (Transforming the Educational Environment) – Doxa Deo established an outreach programme called TREE, focusing on schools in an effort to support the educational staff and the school leadership to effectively guide learners through the challenges unique to their age groups. TREE is a holistic outreach to all stakeholders in a school: learners, parents, teachers and principals. TREE is a programme based on Biblical principles and addresses issues such as: identity, character and morality. We are currently involved in 55 schools in Tshwane. • Acts2Change – This is an empowerment program custom designed for township schools, using a programme called ‘It takes Courage’ developed in conjunction with Kerus Global Education in the USA. Active in 37 schools in Soshanguve, the program addresses HIV/Aids education and prevention, as well as an orientation to Christian based morals. CHILDREN’S HOMES [Children/Poverty Alleviation] Doxa Deo believes that caring for widows and orphans is very close to God’s heart. We are caring for orphaned children in seven children’s homes. Care is given to abandoned, abused and disabled children. The homes are situated in the Greater Tshwane, Johannesburg and Cape Town. Doxa Deo decided to care for vulnerable, destitute and HIV positive children due to the fact that these groups are often disregarded by society. Each home is linked to a Doxa Deo campus which lends support to the house and also shares the responsibility of caring for the children. We currently have the following children’s homes: • House Heneka, based in Pretoria, is a special needs infant institution where we care for dis abled and HIV infected children. • Lesedi House, based in Hartbeespoort, is a halfway house for orphaned and abandoned babies some are infected with HIV. Babies are cared for until adoptive parents are found. • Makhulong Child and Youth Care Centres, based at the Doxa Deo Edendale School, cares for abandoned children and AIDS orphans in two houses. Shalom House cares for children at primary school level and Jabulani House for high school children. Many of our children are victims of abuse and need special care to restore their lives. • KI-DEO, based in Centurion, is a house caring for children from the age of 5 to 18 where they can experience the family environment they have been deprived of. This house has been running for five years and gained a reputation for exceptional excellence in the area of caring for traumatised children. • My Huis, based in Johannesburg, is a house catering for traumatised children who no longer have a house to call home. They are assisted in all facets of their development as members of society including educational and sport support. • Thembiso Baby House, based in Cape Town, cares for babies; some are handicapped and others are HIV positive. The intention is to find adoptive parents for these babies where possible. We have seen many lives restored in our homes and our children are cared for in an environment of love and hope. Impact • Giving expression to Christ’s compassion for orphans • 60 children cared for in a loving environment • Restoration of hope, identity and dignity Investment opportunities • Capital investment – upgrading of facilities • Financial support to enable us to care for all the needs of our children LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT [Leadership/Education] The Doxa Deo City Changers Institute (CCI) has been established to train lay leaders, teachers and full time ministry students as well as post graduate studies in management disciplines. • The City Changers Ministry Programme (CCMP) – lay leaders are assisted to discover their spiritual and leadership gifts. Students are equipped to give practical expression to their gifts. • The School of Education – assists students enrolled part time at the University of South Africa (Unisa) and the North-West University in their studies. Students are empowered through additional courses where CCI invests in their leadership and managerial skills. Students are given the opportunity to gain first hand practical experience by assisting teachers at the Doxa Deo Schools. We have entered into an agreement with Ryan International Schools, based in India, to train teachers for their schools. • The School of Divinity trains students who want to engage in ministry within the context of the church in full time capacity. Students are given the opportunity to gain practical ministry experience through their involvement at Doxa Deo campuses. • Post Graduate Degrees – CCI offers post graduate studies in partnership with Regent University in the USA. Students have an option to enrol for a Masters degree in Organisational Leadership or an MBA. Students have access to the distance learning facilities from Regent University and the opportunity to take part in group discussions and projects with local teams. Moderators from CCI assess students on a continuous basis. Our vision is to develop our training to include other vocational options. We desire to train students in eight different spheres of society, who will live to make a difference in the Page 3
