Happy New Year!
Enterprising Primary 7s
Primary 7 pupils participated in an Enterprise project
in their ICT class leading up to Christmas. Pupils
were challenged with the task of producing calendars
to sell for charity. They used software to calculate
the cost of making their calendar and to determine a
profitable selling price. The final product was
produced using desktop publishing software.
A special mention must be made of John Connor, P7b
who sold a whopping £50 worth of calendars. John is
pictured presenting the profits to S6 Charity
Committee members Mary Anne Lynch-Small and
Paul MacFarlane.
Primary 2 School Trip: Scotland Street School Museum
Primary 2 visited Scotland Street School Museum recently as part of their topic on
Toys. Children took part in an exercise drill, they were shown around an old
classroom and they learned about old toys and how they were made. The children
thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have since produced some great writing and
wonderful line drawings of their visit which they would like to share with you.
Careers Library
The school careers library is located on the top floor of the North Campus, adjacent to the school
library. The careers library is open to all pupils during normal library opening hours, as well as
timetabled Social Education classes throughout the year.
Parents may also use the resources by prior arrangement with Mrs Donaldson (the School
Librarian).
The careers library is stocked with a wide range of up to date resources, including books, DVDs,
prospectuses, leaflets, Internet access and a laser printer. Details of college/university open days,
UCAS application procedures, new courses and some local job opportunities are displayed on the
careers notice boards outside the school library.
WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR OLD MOBILE PHONES!
We are still looking for old mobile phones as part of our
Childline campaign. So far Crawfurd have handed in the
highest number of mobiles. For every 250 mobile phones
Jordanhill School collects, £500 will be donated to Childline.
This service helps thousands children and teenagers across
the UK. So, PLEASE, bring in your old mobile phones as we
will be collecting them in the North and South campus receptions.
Every phone = 5 house points.
IT'S YOUR CALL... FOR CHILDLINE.
Jordanhill — Feeling Festive!
5 days before Christmas, Jordanhill Magazine Group noticed that the
school was looking very festive. There was ceilidh music booming from the
hall, decorations adorning the hall and the excited chit chatter of young
boys and girls.
Primary Three Christmas Party
When we arrived the Christmas party was in full swing, boys and girls
managing some tricky steps—even the
teachers too! They were doing ‘The
Dhoon’ and then as time progressed, the
Santa hats come off and ‘5, 6, 7, 8’ by
Steps began! Even the sixth year helpers
got involved, getting right in there with the
freestyle. The primary three’s seemed to
be having a great time, no doubt due to
plentiful sweeties and great music. All in all, it seemed like a good time.
Primary Six Beauty Workshop
Some of the primary six’s were getting their hair and makeup done
courtesy of the DIWT team. When we walked in, festive music was playing
and the smell of hairspray and nail polish
enveloped the room. The girls were all in
high spirits as their hair was curled and their
were nails done. Their dance was tonight
and they were looking ready to shine! We
left them in peace before getting some shots
of the them all done up!
