assistance services
The accredited social services provided by
RPWA – “Information and counselling on rare
diseases” and “Specific intervention for autistic
children” targeted the disability prevention and
management at different levels: individual,
group, community and national.
The direct beneficiaries of our services were:
people affected by rare diseases in Romania
and their families, autistic children or children
diagnosed with other development deficiencies,
children diagnosed with mental deficiency with
autistic elements from Salaj County and their
families.
In 2010, both services benefited from subsidies
received based on Law 34/1998 from the Ministry
of Labor, Family and Social Protection.
Information and counselling on rare genetic diseases
The information and counselling service on
rare genetic diseases has been functioning
since 2005, accredited as a social service ever
since the first year of functioning. In 2010, the
beneficiaries of the activities developed within
this service were:
• 240 beneficiaries in the Helpline system,
benefitting from information and counselling
regarding the management of rare diseases,
from information about the diagnostic,
referral to existing social and medical
services or other specialists who can provide
support;
• 57 rare disease patients benefited from
information and counselling, information
about the diagnostic, referral to existing
social and medical services or other
specialists who can provide support via
NoRo project;
• 350 rare disease patients and over 250
specialists received information throughout
the year, during the various events organised
by RPWA.
