environmental or social impact<br />

• Requires coordination <strong>and</strong> are subject to<br />

programs led by local government, community<br />

L<strong>and</strong>owners must take reasonable steps to keep<br />

l<strong>and</strong> free of Class 2 pests<br />

It is a serious offence to introduce, keep or supply<br />

a Class 2 pest without a permit issued by the<br />

Department of Primary Industries <strong>and</strong> Fisheries<br />

A plant or animal that:<br />

• Is established in Queensl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> has, or<br />

could have, a substantial adverse economic,<br />

environmental or social impact<br />

L<strong>and</strong>owners may be required to manage Class 3<br />

weeds in or near environmentally significant areas<br />

such as protected areas, important habitats for<br />

threatened species or areas of interest only<br />

A live animal or plant confirmed to be a declared<br />

pest under the L<strong>and</strong> Protection (<strong>Pest</strong> <strong>and</strong> Stock<br />

Route <strong>Management</strong>) Act 2002<br />

An area infested with a declared pest. These<br />

areas can be defined by local council, the<br />

regulatory body or local l<strong>and</strong>holders <strong>–</strong> depending<br />

on the size of the infestation<br />

Inspection carried out by a trained <strong>Weed</strong> Inspector<br />

in compliance with the Queensl<strong>and</strong> Government<br />

Queensl<strong>and</strong> Checklist for Inspection Procedures<br />

This class has been inserted for information purposes only as weed surveys to date have not included Class 3<br />

plants. However, as noted, Class 3 plants may need to be managed within environmentally significant areas <strong>and</strong> it is<br />

recommended that pre-construction surveys record the locations of such species in such areas.<br />
