A decade of trend collections is the result of 10 years of outstanding performances by
stylists and colorists: exceptionally creative hairdressers with a unique passion and
commitment to hair, fashion and particularly color.
From its humble beginnings as a small trend collection, it has blossomed into a high profile
event that runs over several days attracting competitors from all over the world. Today the
Color Zoom Challenge features a large scale international live competition culminating in
the presentation of the new collection created by the Challenge Winners to set new
standards each year. Such phenomenal success is in no small way due to the work of
the stylists and colorists involved.

TRENDS BY GOLDWELL
The Trend Collections are created by the best international
hair stylists and colorists. Until 2008, these were selected
by GOLDWELL and handpicked for their creativity.
Then the Global Color Zoom Creative Team was born,
made up of the winners of the Color Zoom Challenge and
the GOLDWELL Master Team. It’s this combination of the
winners and the Master Team working together that makes
each collection so special.

BENNETt
Shane Bennet from Rathfriland, County Down in Northern
Ireland started working as a junior hairdresser in 1988. Ten
years later he joined the GOLDWELL family as a GOLDWELL
UK Ambassador, educating, training and holding international
shows for GOLDWELL.
In 2001 Shane opened his own salon in Hillsborough and in 2007
he was part of the Color Zoom Master Team.

IOANA ECARD
Ioana Ecard started her stylist career in 2002 at the "Le Coupe
Salon" in Ulm, Germany. In 2008 she won in the Global Color
Zoom Creative Category and thus became part of the Color Zoom
Team in 2010 creating the acclaimed "Just Naked Collection" with
GOLDWELL.
HOW DID YOU TRANSLATE THE COLOR ZOOM TRENDWORLD
INTO YOUR OWN STYLE?
Every single Color Zoom Collection offers new color and cut
techniques but also a world full of inspiration that gave me the
possibility to combine new colors to create my own new style.
WHAT DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOUR NAME AS INTERNATIONAL
WINNER WAS ANNOUNCED AT THE GLOBAL EVENT?
Amazing, I was very happy. It’s difficult to find words for this
moment. You are surprised, happy, proud … just overwhelmed!
HOW WAS IT TO CREATE A COLLECTION TOGETHER WITH A
MASTER TEAM AND THE OTHER INTERNATIONAL WINNERS
OF THE COLOR ZOOM CHALLENGE?
This was a very special and unique experience for me. It’s amazing
how hairdressers of so many different cultures work together in
such a creative and inspiring way. And the “Just Naked Collection”
we created represented all our different nationalities and working
experiences. It was really a once in a lifetime opportunity!
Ilze Eglite from Valmiera, Latvia, has spent 16 years in her
beloved occupation. For 12 years she worked at "Laima Lux"
and in 2006 she opened her own salon "SOHO". Since the year
2000 she has been a GOLDWELL Education Trainer and won the
Global Color Zoom Partner Category in 2007. Ilze created the
2009 collection with the Color Zoom Team.
HOW DOES COLOR ZOOM INSPIRE YOU?
In 2007 the Color Zoom Challenge Winner Team joined and
supported the Color Zoom Master Team for the first time to create
the Trend Zoom 2009 “Futuretec” Collection! All stylists were very
enthusiastic about this inspiring experience, they learned a lot
from each other – and had great fun together as well. The Global
Color Zoom Creative Team has inspired each other ... me as well!
I did believe in my wishes and I won! Victory gives more positive
motivation to do more and achieve more and more ... everything is
possible!
WHY SHOULD A HAIRDRESSER JOIN THE
COLOR ZOOM CHALLENGE?
It is a great project for every hairdresser in the world. It doesn’t
matter where you live – in a big city or a small village – if you are
good and you want to achieve more – do a nice job, send pictures
and you can be situated on top of the world.

Sascha Haseloff from Berlin, Germany, has been a
hairdresser since 1996 and started to work with GOLDWELL
as an Education Trainer in 2003. In the same year he opened
his own salon: the "icono academy" in Berlin. Sascha was part
of the Color Zoom Master Team in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

HOW HAS BEING PART OF COLOR ZOOM INFLUENCED
YOUR CAREER?
During my first participation in 2007, I was impressed by the
professionalism of how the “Trend Zoom” collections are created.
Therefore this project influenced me to bring more structure into my

for 25 years and has used GOLDWELL her entire career. She is
co-owner of the "Fresh Hair Studio" in Southampton and
currently works as a Freelance Art Director for GOLDWELL
USA. Deborah was part of the Color Zoom Team in 2006.
When I heard that I’m part of the Global Color Zoom Creative Team
I was so blown away! I could not believe they picked me. I will never
think of trends the same way, I realize through all the research
we were given at the time that it is so much deeper than just a
collection of “looks” meant to be recreated exactly. I will always
teach and see Color Zoom as an important tool for the colorist and a
fashion forward direction.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG HAIRSTYLISTS?
Be sure to not wait for doors to open, push through them. When you
set a goal work toward it and find a way. Ask for what you want.
We are rarely handed anything in life.

Shane Henning from Sydney, Australia, started his hairdressing
career back in 1974. He won the "Australian Hairdresser of the
Year" five times and made the Hair Expo Hall of Fame. Shane has
been a faithful GOLDWELL user for 20 years when he started
working at "Noddy’s On King Salon" in Sydney. Since then he has
worked not only for global GOLDWELL photoshoots but has also
been part of fashion editorial shoots for Vogue, Harpers Bazaar,
Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, etc. Shane was part of the Color
Zoom Master Team in 2007 and has created the newest "Beautify
Collection" with the Color Zoom Team.
Tyker Ho from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, held scissors to cut hair for
the first time when he was 10 years old. Officially he became a
hairdresser in 2006 at salon "Eros". He was a Global Creative
Category Winner in 2009 and created the "Play Strong
Collection" with the Color Zoom Team. Since then Tyker is
a team member of the Color Zoom International Artistic
Roll-out Team.
WHY DID YOU JOIN THE COLOR ZOOM CHALLENGE?
Color Zoom is not only a competition for me; I love the whole
concept behind it which talks about trends, lifestyles and of course
hair, color techniques and education. It speaks to hairdressers in a

Krankl
Mario Krankl from Salzburg, Austria, has been a hairdresser for
28 years and started working with GOLDWELL 20 years ago. One
of his biggest achievements: winning the Hairdressing
Worldchampionship in Rotterdam in 1990! He started his own
salon "Mario Krankl Hairline" in 1996 and has been part of the
Color Zoom Master Team for several years: 2005, 2008–2012.
How do you benefit from Being a member of the
Color Zoom Master team?
It gives you a good insight into the trend business and teaches you
how to work on a concept. You have to learn to filter the main
messages of the trend information and give it the team’s creative
signature. It is very challenging to create a collection that gives
main trend information for the whole world. This is indeed exciting!

Dieter Mersmann from Sydney, Australia, started hairdressing in
1998. At the moment he is Color Director at "Wild Life Hair" and
it never ceases to amaze me how dedicated the brand is to
advancing the hair color industry. The one thing that really
stands out is that GOLDWELL has always remained true to the
hairdressing industry and has never defused into the supermarket
or pharmacy market, this is truly special.

Mark Nordskov from Hillerød in Denmark became a hairdresser
and color trainer at the salon "chachacha" in 1990.
He won the Global Color Zoom Elumen Category in 2009 and
created the "Play Strong Collection" 2011 as part of the Color
Zoom Team.
How was it to present the collection
on stage at the global event ?
It was an unforgettable and profoundly frightening experience all at
the same time. It was an experience of a lifetime – something I will
never forget. Imagine being able to be part of something so
exceptional, it gave me goose bumps of excitement to stand on the
same stage as so talented colleagues – it couldn’t get any bigger!
What impressed you mostly while
creating the Color Zoom Collection?
The degree of perfection and carefulness the whole team put in
throughout the whole project was without comparison – incredible!
To be with such creative colleagues inspired me and brought out the
very best in me.
TIMOTHY
SWITZER
Timothy Switzer from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, has been a
passionate colorist for 15 years, when he opened his own salon
"Timothy & Co. Salon and Spa". He won the Global Color Zoom
Partner Category in 2009 and was involved in creating the
"Play Strong Collection" 2011. Timothy has been a North
American and Global Artistic Team Member ever since.
WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THE WHOLE COLOR ZOOM
PROJECT?
The Color Zoom project on a whole is the most creative and team
oriented project I have ever worked on. Working with the other
team members helps you to grow as a stylist and find the strengths
you excel at. It is a project that will always hold a special place in
my heart both professionally and personally.

Winning Color Zoom in Vegas was one of the most emotional
experiences of my career to date. It was a huge honor and to this
day I still think of the night my name was announced. I was
overwhelmed with emotions. It has helped to build my profile as
an educator and a creative artist. Something I will be grateful for
my entire career.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG HAIRSTYLISTS?
My advice would be to absorb everything, never stop learning and
always try and push yourself into new opportunities and things
your’ve never done before. Always work to the best of your ability
and to a high standard in everything that you do. I would also say
always try and bring out the best in people around you and the best
in people’s hair!

WU
Peter Wu from Taiwan has been a colorist for 18 years and owns
his own salon "Headline by H-park". He started to work with
GOLDWELL 10 years ago as an Education Trainer and won the
Global Color Zoom Partner Category in 2008. Peter created the
2010 "Just Naked Collection" with the Color Zoom Team. Since
then he has been part of the Color Zoom International Artistic
Roll-out Team.
