On Saturday July 19, ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts, who has just completed a sell-out UK tour and is currently on a world tour, is the guest artist with the London Gala Orchestra. The next evening there will be a great line-up of original 80s artists appearing in the Here and Now – The Best of the 80s concert. Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Curiosity Killed the Cat, Limahl, Nick Heyward, Toyah, T’Pau, and Midge Ure will be performing their greatest hits. Both nights feature spectacular fireworks finales. The concerts start at 8pm on Saturday and 7pm on Sunday and take place on the beautiful lawns in front of the elegant Stansted House. The gates open at 5pm and 4.30pm respectively so there is plenty of time to enjoy a picnic before the show. There will be refreshment and bar facilities on site. Salisbury, Wiltshire Cut and taste I f you’ve got a lawn, get along to Salisbury Garden Machinery’s annual open day on Wednesday, June 4, at their showrooms in Newton Road, Salisbury. Quite apart from the tempting refreshments on offer – including an all-day barbecue – the new, bigger premises will be crammed with a larger-than-ever range of ride-on mowers, including Etesia, while a range of experts will be on hand to answer questions on garden machinery. ‘The new season’s machinery is now in stock,’ says a Salisbury Garden Machinery spokesperson, ‘and we’re looking forward to seeing people who’ve been to our regular open days, as well as welcoming new customers.’ And, as an extra summer treat, there’s 10 per cent off all machines purchased throughout the day. Petersfield gets crafty Over the past year there has been a growing trend in organising events on the market square in Petersfield. As well as the Wednesday and Saturday markets and monthly farmers market there is a garden market every Thursday. On June 22, The Craft Box is hosting Petersfield’s first Arts and Craft market which will be showcasing local talent from all over Hampshire. There will be jewellery, textiles, cards, paintings, photographs, rag dolls, glass and more, as well as demonstrations, face painting and a makeand-take area.
