COURSE DESCRIPTION<br />
The <strong>Basic</strong> <strong>Life</strong> <strong>Support</strong> (<strong>BLS</strong>) <strong>for</strong> <strong>Healthcare</strong> <strong>Providers</strong> (<strong>HCP</strong>) Course is a video-based, Instructor-led course<br />
that teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support. This course trains participants to promptly<br />
recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate<br />
ventilations and provide early use of an AED.<br />

Primary audience<br />
This course is <strong>for</strong> healthcare professionals who need to know how to per<strong>for</strong>m CPR, as well as other lifesaving<br />
skills in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. These healthcare providers may include<br />
doctors, nurses, paramedics, medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists,<br />
doctor’s assistants, registrars, interns, medical and nursing students in training, medical and nursing assistants<br />
and other allied health personnel.<br />

- A 62-page <strong>BLS</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Healthcare</strong> <strong>Providers</strong> Student Manual<br />
- A pocket Reference card<br />
- Key ring wallet with gloves and mouth to mouth barrier device<br />
Test and certification<br />
- For successful completion of the Course, participants will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in<br />
CPR and AED use, and obtain a score of at least 84% in the final written evaluation.<br />
- The Course is CPD accredited by the HPCSA <strong>for</strong> 15 CEUs.<br />
- Candidates will receive an American Heart Association certificate that is valid <strong>for</strong> two years.<br />

Courses can be presented at your venue on a date and time most suitable <strong>for</strong> you if a minimum of six students<br />
can attend. R3/km will be charged <strong>for</strong> training done outside Pretoria.<br />
