Behavioural experiments<br />

Behavioural experiments were described on page 22 as a way of<br />

testing your underlying assumptions and beliefs. Behavioural<br />

experiments ask you to act out a feared situation to see if what you<br />

fear might happen does happen. Should the feared outcome occur,<br />

the experiments will also enable you to see how well you cope with<br />

the situation.<br />

These tasks are <strong>behavioural</strong> because they require that you “test out”<br />

new ways of thinking by doing something differently, often by going<br />

into situations and choosing a different <strong>behavioural</strong> strategy.
