Since August, volunteers have generously dedicated their time to 

produce what many consider to be the “gem” of all auctions in the 

Dayton area. 

This event, along with the annual fund, serve as the two vital 

sources of annual fundraising income. The success of this event is 

crucial. Your attendance, bids, purchases and excitement create 

the necessary funds that impact our students and faculty in every 

classroom, every day. The entire student body has created the 

inspiration for the evening. Parallel in spirit to the creation of the 

Outdoor Exploration Center, our students lead us with their vision, 

dreams and curiosity. This is evident in all aspects… down to the 

invitations which include artwork from the third grade class! ALL the

Show of your choice. Current popular shows

attend a live taping of Late Night with Jimmy 

Fallon, at the NBC Studio in Rockefeller Center.

a behind-the-scenes tour of NBC Studios. You

Christie’s in New York to sell this print through

it through our auction and to see it hang in 

a Miami Valley home. This Chagall print is 

archivally framed and enhanced with a linen 

mat and a hand-gilded gold frame.

Oprah—The Final Season 

Oprah begins her final season after completing 

nearly twenty-five years on the air as the highest 

rated talk show host in television history. 

We have arranged for two adults to join Oprah 

for a live taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show 

at Harpo Studios on Chicago’s Westside. The 

taping schedule varies from week to week and 

and New Years. Please make arrangements the show’s season usually runs from late August 

through the MVS Development Office within to November and January to May. The final 

thirty days of purchase. Opening Bid: $5000 taping is scheduled for September 9, 2011.

(1) The Auction will begin promptly following dinner and continue without interruption until all 

items have been auctioned. 

(2) In order to enter a bid, bidder must raise his/her paddle and attract the attention of the 

auctioneer. This must be repeated each time a bid is initiated or increased. Each bid legally 

obligates the bidder to pay his/her bid price in full if his/her bid is deemed the high bid 

at the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer. The auction will be fast-paced so the bids must be

(3) ADVANCE BIDS/SEALED BIDS: If you are unable to personally attend the auction, you may

restrictive use or other qualifications which may affect value, application, or use thereof to 

bidder. Items are nontransferable and must be used within one year of the auction, unless 

otherwise specified. These items may not be re-sold. Purchasers are bound by the precise 

restrictions specified by the donors. The terms are nonnegotiable. Please read the catalog 

carefully for all specifications and limitations. 

(8) The Miami Valley School makes no expressed or implied warranties or representations of any kind 

or nature with respect to the property or services, and in no event shall it be responsible for 

the correctness of description, genuineness, authenticity, or condition of the property or 

services. No statement in the catalogue or made at the sale or in the bill of sale or invoice or 

elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty or representation or an assumption of liability. 

By his/her purchase, the buyer waives any claims for liability against either The Miami Valley 

School or the donor of the property or services, and neither The Miami Valley School nor the 

donor is responsible for any personal injuries or damages to property that may result from the 

utilization of property or services sold.

9) Items may be picked up at the claim area(s) by exhibiting a paid receipt. When an 

item has not been displayed, the purchaser will receive a certificate or a contract for the 

promised gift. Items may be removed only by exhibiting a paid receipt at the door at 

the time of departure or authorized by a committee member. 

(10) Any auction purchase is tax “deductible” only to the extent that the donation exceeds that 

of the stated value of the item on the contract given to the buyer upon purchasing an item. 

Any values stated or set regarding items being auctioned are donors’ estimates and are not 

warranted by the auction committee. 

(11) Unless otherwise specified, all auction items and services must be used within one year 

from the date of the auction. Unless otherwise specified, dates and times are to be 

arranged at the mutual convenience of, by, and between the donor and buyer. If questions 

arise, contact the Advancement Office. To avoid disappointment, please make all vacation 

reservations well in advance. Security and cleaning deposits, when required by the donor, 

must be paid directly to the donor and are not included in your bid. 

(12) All auction items must be removed from the premises Saturday evening, March 6, 2010, 

at the purchaser’s own risk. The Miami Valley School cannot assume responsibility for items 

left after that time. Special arrangements for pickup or delivery of large items must be made 

at the time of payment. 

(13) On the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer, title to the item and/or service will pass to the 

highest bidder who thereupon assumes full risk and responsibility thereof. 

(14) *Unless otherwise noted, airfare included with this item is restricted to “round” trip, economy 

airfare. 

S I L E N T A U C T I O N R U L E S 

(1) Each item in the Silent Auction has a bid sheet located on a table nearby. Persons desiring 

to bid may do so by writing in their legal names or bid number and the amount of their bids 

on the bid sheets. 

(2) The opening bid on each item must equal or exceed the “minimum bid” stated at the top 

of each bid sheet. Each new bid must be written on the next blank line available on the bid 

sheet. Each bid must be increased by no less than the increment noted on the bid sheet. 

Once a bid has been made, it cannot be changed or erased. Silent auction bids will be 

disqualified if the minimum bid and/or minimum raise are not sufficient. 

(3) Under no circumstances may an auction bid sheet be removed from the tables. 

(4) The Silent Auction tables will be open for bidding from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Closing time 

for the silent tables will be announced publicly. The closing bid circled by the auction officials 

constitutes the winning bid. 

(5) In the event of a dispute, the auction official shall act as the final authority and shall 

determine the winning bidder. In the event that two bidders are in the process of bidding on 

the same item when the official attempts to circle the winning bid, the official may conduct 

a mini live auction between those bidders. He/she shall determine the winning bidder. 

His/her decision shall be final. 

(6) Unless otherwise specified, all auction items and services must be used within one year after 

the date of the auction. Items such as tickets or concerts or events are non-transferable.
