9) Items may be picked up at the claim area(s) by exhibiting a paid receipt. When an<br />
item has not been displayed, the purchaser will receive a certificate or a contract for the<br />
promised gift. Items may be removed only by exhibiting a paid receipt at the door at<br />
the time of departure or authorized by a committee member.<br />
(10) Any <strong>auction</strong> purchase is tax “deductible” only to the extent that the donation exceeds that<br />
of the stated value of the item on the contract given to the buyer upon purchasing an item.<br />
Any values stated or set regarding items being <strong>auction</strong>ed are donors’ estimates and are not<br />
warranted by the <strong>auction</strong> committee.<br />
(11) Unless otherwise specified, all <strong>auction</strong> items and services must be used within one year<br />
from the date of the <strong>auction</strong>. Unless otherwise specified, dates and times are to be<br />
arranged at the mutual convenience of, by, and between the donor and buyer. If questions<br />
arise, contact the Advancement Office. To avoid disappointment, please make all vacation<br />
reservations well in advance. Security and cleaning deposits, when required by the donor,<br />
must be paid directly to the donor and are not included in your bid.<br />
(12) All <strong>auction</strong> items must be removed from the premises Saturday evening, March 6, <strong>2010</strong>,<br />
at the purchaser’s own risk. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Miami</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> <strong>School</strong> cannot assume responsibility for items<br />
left after that time. Special arrangements for pickup or delivery of large items must be made<br />
at the time of payment.<br />
(13) On the fall of the <strong>auction</strong>eer’s hammer, title to the item and/or service will pass to the<br />
highest bidder who thereupon assumes full risk and responsibility thereof.<br />
(14) *Unless otherwise noted, airfare included with this item is restricted to “round” trip, economy<br />
airfare.<br />
S I L E N T A U C T I O N R U L E S<br />
(1) Each item in the Silent Auction has a bid sheet located on a table nearby. Persons desiring<br />
to bid may do so by writing in their legal names or bid number and the amount of their bids<br />
on the bid sheets.<br />
(2) <strong>The</strong> opening bid on each item must equal or exceed the “minimum bid” stated at the top<br />
of each bid sheet. Each new bid must be written on the next blank line available on the bid<br />
sheet. Each bid must be increased by no less than the increment noted on the bid sheet.<br />
Once a bid has been made, it cannot be changed or erased. Silent <strong>auction</strong> bids will be<br />
disqualified if the minimum bid and/or minimum raise are not sufficient.<br />
(3) Under no circumstances may an <strong>auction</strong> bid sheet be removed from the tables.<br />
(4) <strong>The</strong> Silent Auction tables will be open for bidding from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Closing time<br />
for the silent tables will be announced publicly. <strong>The</strong> closing bid circled by the <strong>auction</strong> officials<br />
constitutes the winning bid.<br />
(5) In the event of a dispute, the <strong>auction</strong> official shall act as the final authority and shall<br />
determine the winning bidder. In the event that two bidders are in the process of bidding on<br />
the same item when the official attempts to circle the winning bid, the official may conduct<br />
a mini live <strong>auction</strong> between those bidders. He/she shall determine the winning bidder.<br />
His/her decision shall be final.<br />
(6) Unless otherwise specified, all <strong>auction</strong> items and services must be used within one year after<br />
the date of the <strong>auction</strong>. Items such as tickets or concerts or events are non-transferable.<br />
