FABULOUS FAIRYtale TELLING FROM THE PREPS
We really enjoyed rehearsing
and performing
our summer play,
“The Prince and the
Pea”. It was a modern
twist on the classic
fairytale. The children
worked very hard with
their singing, acting and
being in the right place
at the right time. You
made us all very proud.
The costumes, props
and scenery were just
magnificent. A huge
thank you to everybody
who helped us make it
possible.
Prep N are all very
excited as it’s their play
next week. It promises
to be a fantastic finale!

Theseus and the minotaur
Theseus and the Minotaur is one of the greatest tales of
heroism from Ancient Greece. Our Class 2 play, Theseus,
Thoseus and the Minotaur, is an amusing adaption of this
great play where some interesting characters are introduced.
Come along to find out if the hero twins, with the
help of their secret weapons, can save the beautiful male
and female contestants from being savaged by the fierce
and cruel Minotaur once and for all. See the What’s On
Next Week section for times of the performances.
Class 2 Teachers – 50NL
STAFF NEWS
Sadly we will be saying goodbye to two members of staff
at the end of this term. Miss Laura St John is leaving for
pastures new. She has been with us for 3 years and we will
miss her bright personality and enthusiasm for teaching.
Mrs Webb-Bowen, our wonderfully efficient school secretary,
will also be leaving us. If you know of an ex-Broomwood
parent who would be interested in filling this vacancy

SUMMER HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
It’s almost the summer holidays! Miss
Moran and Mrs Preece will be running
a holiday programme for the first two
weeks at The Vicarage. We will be
exploring different countries, enjoying
different craft activities and participating
in some sporting activities in the
afternoons. If you would like to book a spot on the adventure,

24 June: Class 1N will perform the story of “Paul and his
Friends” at St Luke’s at 8.45. Boys’ Choir from 50NL will be
singing the anthems and Chamber Group will be playing.
Please join us for coffee in the Church from 8.30.
Polite Notice: Could all parents look at home to see if they
have a blue hymn book with “Parents” written on the inside
cover as we are missing at least 20 from Church.
MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA
The Inter-House Music Competition last Friday was a huge
success. We had so much fun listening to the finalists in
the instrumental sections as well as the entertaining items
performed by the House choirs. The judges, Mr Gilder
and Mr Kennedy, commented on the high level of music
skill that was on display. They had a tough job making
their final decisions. Congratulations to everyone involved,
whether you tried out, competed or won. You represented
your House so well and have done Broomwood Hall proud.

SPORTS results
Monday 14 June: Class 3 boys (50NL/GR) cricket -v- Eaton
House The Manor. A-team won by 24 runs (144-120),
B-team won by 15 runs (142-127) and C-team lost by 8
runs (125-117). A good effort from all the boys.
Tuesday 15 June: Class 3 girls (50NL) -v- Finton House.
A-team won 6½ to 5; B-team drew 5 all and the C-team
won 6 to 2½. A great effort which will put them in good
shape for the Thomas’s Fulham matches this Friday.

COMMON ENTRANCE NEWS
Outstanding 13+ Common Entrance results for both the
Upper School and Northcote Lodge with everyone passing
with flying colours to the school of their first choice.
These included, for the girls, 6 to Benenden, 3 to Wellington,
4 to St Edward’s Oxford and 3 to Marlborough;
and for the boys, 3 to Eton, 3 to Wellington, 3 to Dulwich
and 3 to Bradfield, as well as Harrow, Stowe, Tonbridge
and other top schools. Fantastic! We are very proud of all
their achievements.
GR SUMMER SPORTS CLUB
This year’s Summer Sports Club is available to all Broomwood
Hall children (including Preps) from Monday 12 to
Friday 16 July, at Garrad’s Road. Emphasis will be on
learning skills in fun team games.
