Spruce up a purchased tray by
adding a liner featuring a
hummingbird and flower.
You will bring a smile along
with whatever you are serving.
This quick and easy liner takes little storage space, so make several for
different occasions using the great variety found in Amazing Designs
embroidery collections.

Supplies:
• Serving Tray - It can be an unfinished tray found in craft stores,
a simple plastic tray or a more elegant metal tray
• Embroidery/sewing machine with 5” X 7” hoop or larger
• General sewing supplies and embroidery threads
• Amazing Designs® Stabilize It! pre-cut embroidery stabilizer sheets
ADS-7515L Medium No-Show Mesh Cut-Away
• Spray embroidery adhesive
• Totally Stable or pattern tracing paper
• 2 pieces of solid color, medium weight fabric cut 2” larger than the base of your tray base on each side
• Heavy weight fusible interfacing - same size as tray base
• Corded piping long enough to go around the finished liner
• Piping/Cording presser foot - optional but helpful

NSTRUCTIONS:
At the Computer:
1. Follow the instructions on the Amazing Design CD for retrieving the design in your desired format. Transfer the design to your machine. This liner
features HUM101. If you are using Edit ‘N Stitch: open the design, observe the stitch-out sequence and color order, then print a template
Embroidery and Construction:
1. Cut 2 pieces of the liner fabric so that they each measure 2” larger and 2” wider than the base of the tray.
2. Fuse the interfacing to the center of the wrong side of one liner fabric.
3. Measure and mark the center of the interfaced fabric.
4. Hoop this together with the stabilizer, using the spray embroidery adhesive to hold them together.
5. Use the printed template to aid in placement of the design. With the design open in your embroidery machine, bring it to the center mark and stitch
the design.
6. Trim excess stabilizer from the back of the design.
7. Use Totally Stable/pattern paper to make a tracing of base inside the tray. Add 1/4” seam allowances all the way around this shape.
8. Center this pattern over your embroidery and cut 1 liner fabric to size.
9. Many factors can influence the final size: fabric thickness, your stitching on the 1/4” seam allowance, etc. Sew the piping to the liner using a 1/4”
seam allowance and a basting stitch (length 3 - 3.5). Clip the corners of the piping as you approach a corner for a smooth fit.
10. Place it on the tray checking the fit. Adjust as needed.
11. Place the 2nd liner piece, right sides together with the embroidered/piped liner. Stitch them together, using a 2.0-2.5 stitch length and follow the
stitching line left when sewing the piping. Leave about 3” open for turning.
12. Turn right side out. Whip stitch the turning area closed. Press and enjoy.
