Related Content: Constitution Day
The United States Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787. Although this is not a
holiday that we typically celebrate, September 17 th is known as Constitution Day. It is also
known as Citizenship Day. These are both reasons to be proud to be an American.
Plan a special classroom meal to celebrate Constitution and Citizenship Day. The menu for this
meal will be selected by a voting process. Choice cards are provided for suggested meal items;
however, other choices may be offered if desired.
Students will use the meal ballot to select a sandwich, vegetable, salad, fruit, dessert
and drink.
Tally the votes and announce the meal that will be prepared for Constitution Day.
Food items on the menu are fairly simple to prepare. Assign students jobs for preparing
meal items.
Differentiated Tasks:

choices and vote on
preferences.
Students will identify picture
choices and vote for preferred
food items.

to select a picture
representing a food choice.
