In the Degree Programme in Tourism students will gain
a wide special training in the different fields of tourism, focusing on
congress studies and business. The aim is to provide students with
abilities for working in demanding work tasks from customer services
The graduated students have the skills needed in the planning, practical
follow-up and development of tourism. In the career path, their titles
may be for example, a sales manager, marketing manager, reception
manager, resort manager, travelling secretary and manager and travelling
entrepreneur.
The degree programme consists of basic studies, professional studies,
which include practical training to enhance professional skills,
Bachelor’s thesis and elective studies.
The most important study modules and focus areas are basic studies
and professional studies, congress studies and business, leadership and
entrepreneurship, communication skills and tourism research, language
and cultural studies and practical training in Finland or abroad.
Diego Rivas
Diego Rivas, student of tourism, arrived
in Tampere from Spain.
“Travelling and tourism are an
important part of my life. Therefore,
I wanted to specialise myself in this field
and its professional aspects.
The degree programme is very
attractive and professionally oriented.
I believe that tourism is an important
trend nowadays for any country as
concerns its image, economy and
culture. So I believe that having
professionals in that field is a ‘must’.
Tampere has all the facilities that a
student can need. Student support here
is very good, concerning benefits and
health services for instance. I would
basically encourage people to come and
study in Finland. In addition, Finland is
such a unique place and culture that to
have the experience to be here is really
worthwhile.”
