The POLICEMAN lingers behind CHRISTINA, who is pursing her lips as she silently takes in JULIA’S appearance. CHRISTINA (coldly) It’s not like I want to be here either, Julia. JULIA (still not turning away from the wall) I called Glenn, not you. CHRISTINA It’s not Glenn’s job to pick you up from jail. It shouldn’t even be his job to alert me to the fact you’re in jail. Now come on, we’re leaving. JULIA (turning her head slightly) I think I’d prefer to stay with the demonic donkey and his friend, thanks. CHRISTINA looks over at AARON and the DONKEY. AARON gives a half-hearted wave of greeting, and looks at 134
his hands awkwardly. CHRISTINA grimaces and turns to the POLICEMAN. CHRISTINA Why is my sister in a cell with a male? They should be separate. POLICEMAN The men’s holding cell is currently being restored due to water damage. We felt there was no danger with putting these two in together. CHRISTINA (not satisfied with the answer) Well, I’ll be sure to speak to your superior about this later. She steps aside and raises her eyebrows expectantly at the POLICEMAN. He immediately starts unlocking the cell door and holds it open. CHRISTINA Out. JULIA kicks the wall, but eventually turns and starts making her way out of the cell. As she passes AARON and the DONKEY, she salutes them. JULIA It was a pleasure serving time with you. Don’t let her traumatise any children now. 135
