<strong>an</strong>other as the <strong>Marauder</strong>s’<br />

<strong>Brent</strong> <strong>Carder</strong> stepped away from<br />

the <strong>Marauder</strong> Stadium sideline.<br />

<strong>Carder</strong> ended his career with<br />

a record of 189-185-5 in his 37<br />

years, a mark which makes him<br />

the 11th all-time winningest coach<br />

in the nation <strong>an</strong>d fi fth all-time in<br />

California.<br />

As AVC's head coach, <strong>Carder</strong>'s teams won two state championships<br />

(1974 <strong>an</strong>d 1975), won or tied for the conference title<br />

seven times <strong>an</strong>d received 13 bowl game bids -- including most<br />

GUARD ‘59<br />

MOST INSPIRATIONAL<br />

recently to the 2001 Shrine Potato Bowl. He has coached 30<br />

All-America selections <strong>an</strong>d 48 All-State picks, including four state<br />

Most Valuable Players.<br />

<strong>Carder</strong> was named Coach of the Year in 1974 <strong>an</strong>d 1975 by the California Community <strong>College</strong>s<br />

Football Coaches <strong>an</strong>d in 1987 by the California Coaches Association.<br />

In addition to his 37 years as head coach, <strong>Carder</strong> played two years of football for the <strong>Marauder</strong>s,<br />

<strong>an</strong>d was <strong>an</strong> assist<strong>an</strong>t coach in 1966. In those 40 years he played for or coached nine of the <strong>Marauder</strong>s’<br />

11 conference championships, 13 of their 16 bowl games <strong>an</strong>d is undefeated in playoff games.<br />

Thought by m<strong>an</strong>y to be <strong>Marauder</strong> Athletics, in 2000 the <strong>Antelope</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> Press named him the<br />

July of 2003 after 28 years,<br />

Gauchos then moved<br />

to Eugene, OR for a<br />

similar position with<br />

the University of Oregon.<br />
