Infrastructure Development – priority railway projects
3 rd International Technical Colloquium on Infrastructure
Generating railway business projects and ideas
Club Feroviar Conference on Infrastructure development –priority railway projects, 8 th edition, organised by Club
Feroviar and the Romanian Railway Industry Association will take place on the 20 and 21 of February, in Sibiu.
Club Feroviar Conferences represent an environment generating railway business projects and ideas, supported
by the reunion of 150 representatives of the European Commission, the national infrastructure manager, private
infrastructure managers, railway organisations and the industry. The academic community and companies with
R&D activities will deliver presentations in the Technical Colloquium – Session Lines and Session Installations &
Telecommunications, held during the second day of conference.
Major railway infrastructure development projects
An important number of undergoing tenders, the prioritization of railway infrastructure projects, new organisational
and development policies, are just few of the objectives reached in the past two years by the authorities responsible with
the national railway infrastructure management. The estimated amounts are significant, the total value of projects alfor
modernisation and rehabilitation of railway infrastructure reaching up to EUR 2 bn. Also, the value of the projects in
preparation phase, for both Romanian Corridor IV branches, run into over EUR 7 bn until 2020, for approx. 780 km.
As for the urban rail public transport infrastructure, tram infrastructure rehabilitation projects estimated at
more than EUR 300 Million are implemented. As regards the underground transport operator, the company
has short and medium term infrastructure development plans totalling around EUR 6.5 Billion. The projects
are believed to be absolutely necessary to the city of Bucharest and its Metropolitan Area in the coming years.
The international market reacted as a significant number of companies have expressed their interest in capitalising
on the existing business opportunities. Romania has thus become a strategic market for many of these firms.
What you need to know about the local market for railway business +
• What tenders are to be announced, what companies are interested in the local market?
• What are the elements of the national and international legislative framework necessary to railway
infrastructure development?
• What railway projects should be included in the next European financial period?
• What are the efficient methods for organising procurement procedures?
• What are the new railway infrastructure technologies?
• What are the efficient infrastructure asset management solutions of the local market?
