Flathead Nati<strong>on</strong>al Forest - In mid-November, two Flathead valley residents were arrested by Law Enforcement Officers (LEO’s)<br />

in a remote secti<strong>on</strong> of the Tally Lake Ranger District for possessi<strong>on</strong> of approximately two pounds of marijuana with intent to<br />

distribute. Officers also seized numerous items including marijuana paraphernalia <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> a digital scale.<br />

Kootenai Nati<strong>on</strong>al Forest - An LEO assisted in the arrest of a Canadian citizen involved in allegedly smuggling 113 pounds of<br />

BC-bud marijuana <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> approximately 2000 ecstasy tablets into the U.S. across the internati<strong>on</strong>al border in the Eureka, MT area.<br />

The transfer of drugs occurred <strong>on</strong> Nati<strong>on</strong>al Forest System (<strong>NFS</strong>) l<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>s administered by the Rexford Ranger District. The arrest<br />

was the result of the cooperative efforts between LEI, USBP, ICE <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department. The value of the<br />

seized drugs is estimated at $600,000.<br />

Two men who were found guilty in U.S. District Court earlier this year for c<strong>on</strong>spiracy to manufacture marijuana in various<br />

locati<strong>on</strong>s <strong>on</strong> the Fortine Ranger District were sentenced last week. One man was sentenced to serve seven m<strong>on</strong>ths impris<strong>on</strong>ment,<br />

six m<strong>on</strong>ths home c<strong>on</strong>finement <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> three years supervised release. The sec<strong>on</strong>d man was sentenced to serve seven m<strong>on</strong>ths<br />

impris<strong>on</strong>ment, seven m<strong>on</strong>ths home c<strong>on</strong>finement <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> three years supervised release. Both were also sentenced to the st<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ard<br />

c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s of federal probati<strong>on</strong>. The case was investigated by the NW M<strong>on</strong>tana LEI z<strong>on</strong>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Lincoln County Sheriff’s<br />

Department.<br />

Idaho Panh<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>le Nati<strong>on</strong>al Forest - On 3/8, an LEO <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> K-9 were requested by the Idaho State Police Narcotics Unit to search a<br />

vehicle suspected to be involved in internati<strong>on</strong>al drug smuggling. The search led to the discovery of a small amount of marijuana<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> a backpack with maps of nati<strong>on</strong>al forests <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> Canadian border areas, <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> the seizure of $17,000 in cash.<br />
