6.4.2.14.4.2.1 Target size and growth rate<br />

The domestic market is expected to grow at a CAGR <strong>of</strong> 16.4% to Rs<br />

301,662 Crore in 2016-17. Production is expected to grow at a CAGR<br />

15.2% to Rs 257,050 Crore by 2016-17.<br />

6.4.34.4.3 Issues<br />

Competitiveness <strong>of</strong> Indian <strong>Industry</strong> vis-à-vis Chinese<br />

Manufacturers: Price differential between domestic companies and<br />

Chinese manufacturers are mainly due to disadvantages faced by<br />

domestic <strong>Industry</strong>, as well as subsidies/ incentives provided to the<br />

Chinese manufacturers by its Government.<br />

Testing facilities in the country: There is lack <strong>of</strong> required testing<br />

capabilities in terms <strong>of</strong> the bandwidth <strong>of</strong> the test facilities available in<br />

the country. Also, there is a lack <strong>of</strong> adequate capacity <strong>of</strong> testing<br />

facilities.<br />

Availability <strong>of</strong> Raw materials: Constrained availability <strong>of</strong> certain<br />

critical raw materials such as CRGO/ CRNGO Steel, Amorphous Steel<br />

etc. and volatility in raw material prices is hurting domestic industry<br />
