Vocal Academy in Germany . Many of Mr. Desmarais’ former students have gone on<br />

to study at La Sorbonne in Paris , the Cleveland Music Institute, and the University of<br />

Montreal .<br />

Mr. Desmarais in duet with violinist David Lefevre won the second prize at Concours<br />

International de Musique Chambre Française du vingtieme siècle. Prix Henri Sauguet<br />

France , 1991. They also won the Grand laureate Prize of the Yehudi Menuhin<br />

Internation Foundation. Mr Desmarais has received the Commemorative Medal for the<br />

125th Anniversary of Canada for his remarkable contribution to the arts.<br />

Lance Elbeck (Orchestras)<br />

Lance Elbeck began his violin studies in Chicago with the renowned<br />

George Perlman. After graduating from the prestigious Curtis Institute<br />

of Music in Philadelphia where he studied with Ivan Galamian and Paul<br />

Makanowitsky, he soon drew the attention of well-known musicians<br />

and conductors,<br />

Elbeck was a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the<br />

Philadelphia Chamber Players with whom he performed in various parts<br />

of Europe and North America. Elbeck was also concertmaster with the<br />

ballet companies of the Kirov and Bolshoï theatres during their North<br />

American tours, as well as the Hamilton Philharmonic from 1978 to 2012.<br />

Lance Elbeck has been a guest lecturer at the Conservatoire national supérieur de<br />

musique et de danse de Paris and teacher at the Meadowmount School of Music,<br />

Philadelphia’s New School of Music, McMaster University (1990 to 2012), as well as<br />

the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts. He currently teaches privately in Ottawa. He<br />

is currently concertmaster with the Toronto Concert Orchestra and the Grand Salon<br />

Orchestra.<br />

Naomi Forman (Music Theatre)<br />

Soprano NAOMI FORMAN is noted for her “mesmerising” stage<br />

presence. “You couldn't take your eyes off her - she has that<br />

kind of star power.” (Winnipeg Free Press). A cross-over artist<br />

who has embraced everything from Mozart to Musical Theatre,<br />

memorable moments for this versatile singing actor include<br />

sharing the stage with Broadway Legend Len Cariou and the<br />

Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (Send in the Clowns: An Evening<br />

of Stephen Sondheim) Franca in Light in the Piazza (Dry Cold<br />

Productions) and Mad Margaret in Ruddigore (The Gilbert<br />

and Sullivan Society of Winnipeg). Forman is the creator of<br />

StarBach’s: The Coffee Cantata, a fresh take on Bach's classic for the triple-soy-venti set<br />

that premiered at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. The one-hour show has since appeared<br />

with Best of Fest, the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, the Saskatoon Proms and the<br />

Brandon Chamber Players. Naomi Forman Productions (NFP) continues to explore and<br />

develop new shows by re-thinking old operas. A big fan of New Music, Forman recently<br />

commissioned a set of songs for soprano, piano and electronics from Canadian composer<br />

T. Patrick Carrabré whose song cycle, Crazy, reveals the thin line between creativity<br />

and madness. A sneak peek of Crazy was first heard at the Western Canadian Music<br />

Awards in Calgary with the official world premiere held during the Brandon Chamber<br />

Players 2013-14 season. A member of the voice faculty at Brandon University since<br />
