Comprehensive services, convenient location
The Outpatient Burn and Wound Care Center offers
advanced, comprehensive care for complex burns and
wounds to children of all ages and adults. We provide
care for those with burns and wounds that do not
require hospitalization, as well as for patients who
have recently been discharged from the hospital and
need follow-up care until fully healed. Our services
also include comprehensive outpatient care for
ostomy patients.
Our experienced, multidisciplinary team understands
the physical and psychological effects of burns and
other injuries for both adults and children. We are
committed to working closely with you and your family
in a supportive environment.
Your care team includes board-certified plastic
surgeons, general surgeons, internal medicine
specialists, dermatologists, specialized nurses and
therapists, and other medical professionals.

Burn and wound care
We provide outpatient care for all types of complex burn
injuries, including those caused by thermal, electrical
and chemical sources. We also care for wounds that are
difficult and slow to heal. These wounds can result from
trauma, surgery and complications of medical
conditions, such as diabetes and vascular disease.
The outpatient center is an extension of our Burnett
Burn Center, the only burn care facility in the region that
is verified by the American Burn Association and the
American College of Surgeons.
Services include
• Advanced care for patients who have been through
surgery, as well as those who have not. Care includes
the latest dressings, topical treatments, hydrotherapy
and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (see other side).
• Rehab therapy to monitor your ability to move and
perform daily activities
• Scar management with compression therapy
• Specialty support from pain management and other
related hospital services
• Patient and family education and support
• Monthly burn survivors support group and wellness
programs

8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday
Ostomy care provided noon-4:30 p.m. Wednesdays
and Fridays.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
This advanced therapy uses pressurized, pure oxygen to
increase the amount of oxygen in the patient’s blood
stream and enhance healing. Our state-of-the-art,
individual hyperbaric oxygen chambers provide
effective treatment for a range of wounds and
conditions, including:
• Burns
• Diabetic foot ulcers and other wounds
• Wounds related to peripheral vascular disease
• Gangrene
• Carbon monoxide poisoning
• Decompression illness, such as the bends
from scuba diving
• Spider bites
Ostomy care
Our outpatient ostomy care team provides patients with
long-term essential care from a certified ostomy care
nurse (COCN) or a certified wound, ostomy and
continence nurse (CWOCN) specialist.
Our specialists provide care for every stage of the
ostomy process:
• Preoperative visits – In addition to preparing for
surgery and stoma site marking, we help you adjust
to life with an ostomy and address your medical,
social and emotional concerns.
• Postoperative visits – We offer follow-up care and
education to help you cope as you recover and adjust
to changes in your daily life.
• Long-term maintenance and support – We provide
guidance for patients who have lived for years with
an ostomy. Our staff supports you through any
medical, social and emotional issues related to your
condition.
