SUSPENSIONS
AS INTERMEDIATE PRODUCTS
FOR FLUID APPLICATIONS.
Nanopowders are found often agglomerated due to their high
specific surface. However, their specific qualities in
applications are only released with the maximum possible
disagglomeration. We accomplish this by producing stable
nanosuspensions with our nanopowders.
Intermediate products easy to handle
Above all, nanosuspensions are used as intermediary products
for fluid applications. The nanoparticle agglomeration
(clumping) is destroyed by means of the mechanical shear
forces induced when producing the suspension, whereby
simultaneously the nanoparticle surface is modified by
a stabilisation additive to prevent re-agglomeration.
Progress for the user. With our suspensions
our customers are able to easily inject nanoscaled
additives into their applications without altering the
production process. The nano effect of our products
allows you to obtain special product
properties or unusual product performance.
UV-Absorption of ZnO suspensions and comparable products
A significantly higher degree of transparency with the same UV protection
is obtained through our complete disagglomeration.
Our customised nanosuspensions, for example, make paint
layers more scratchproof, or transparent paint coatings are
furnished with UV protection. The type of dispersion agent or
additive depends on the respective customer application.
Thus, we offer solutions for water based or organic systems.
Example: zinc oxide suspension
We have developed nanosuspensions based on ZnO to protect
against aggressive UV radiation. The input material is our
Zincox TM , a nanoscale zinc oxide (ZnO) that provides reliable
long-term protection against UV radiation in combination
with a very high degree of transparency in the visible light
spectrum.
The especially high transparency of our ZnO suspensions
derives from our ability to almost fully disagglomerate and
stabilise nanoscale ZnO particles. The ZnO suspensions are
adapted to the customer’s specific application. For example,
we offer suspensions for water based or various organic
systems in a variety of particle concentrations.

PRECISELY DEFINED
GRANULATES READY-TO-PRESS
FOR YOUR APPLICATION.
Nanoparticles exhibit unusual improvements in product
properties through numerous applications. Until now, their
application has been limited in many ways by handling. For
example, the low bulk volume prevents suitable pressing in
the production of ceramics and the manufacture of high
density ceramics. Transferring the nano powder as a granulate
can solve this problem. We offer granulates made of our
nanopowder that are ready-to-press. They are easy for our
customers to introduce into the respective process chain.
Progress for the user. Our ceramic granulates
can be injected into any production process. The
nano effect of ceramic powders allows our customers
to obtain especially high degrees of strength
and viscosity. You save energy because of the
lower sinter temperature for nanopowders and
obtain uncommon product performance.
Individual customer-specific properties
In granulate form the nanoparticles are separated from each
other but at the same time held together using a suitable
bonding agent. This permits manufacture of a moulded form
with sufficient density. The bonding agent is dissipated in
the subsequent sintering step of the process.
In order to manufacture the granulate a slurry (nanopowder,
fluid, additive) is mixed and then granulated. The composition
of the slurry as well as the process parameters for granulation
determine the resulting granulate properties. Thus, we can
set the granulate hardness, granule size and granule form
according to customer specifications.
Example: nanoscale zirconium dioxide
By transferring our nanoscale zirconium dioxide through a
customer-specific granulate, we can obtain precisely the
particle properties such as strength, size or form necessary
for the pressing and sintering in the respective application.
The zirconium oxide granulates are used by our customers to
manufacture bioceramics for dental purposes or increasingly
as a substitute for metals.

IF SOMETHING CAN
CHANGE THE WORLD,
THEN IT IS THESE MATERIALS.
CATALYSTS
We control precisely the composition of catalytically
activated materials as well as the properties of the media.
Thus, we are able to produce unusually high-performance
catalysts.
CERAMIC
Harder than steel and as transparent as glass. A central
application field for these new materials is in medical
technology. Endoprosthesis for replacement joints already
delivers more quality of life to millions of people today.
UV PROTECTION
Nanoparticles offer effective UV protection together with a
high degree of transparency for the remainder of the light
spectrum. In order to transfer them to the respective customer
application without agglomeration (clumping) we also deliver
them in the form of nanosuspensions.
