Favorite Memory Gathering of the WWII pilots who were captured and interned at Camp King along with<br />
a few of their German guards during a Col. King memorial week celebration &<br />
presenting REFORGER Deployment information to the 412th Engineer Bde in<br />
Vicksburgh, MS; Attending the first Vicksburg, Mississippi River Fest in 1990;<br />
Supporting 2 major REFORGERS and briefing NATO Logistics Officers in Hamburg on<br />
US deploymet operations following the conclusion of REFORGER 88; also enjoyed<br />
doing the COMPASS brief to the 412th Engr Bde in Vicksburg, MS.<br />
Worst Memory The loss of the trees along the boulevard going through Camp King - never understood<br />
the reasoning behind the removal of all those trees; Having to pick up your car in<br />
Bremerhaven... removing the catalytic converter... then having to replace it again in the<br />
states...what a rip-off process that was.<br />

Special Comments Having fun in my semi-retired state! If someone would have told me after I graduated<br />
from Auburn with a BS in Aviation Management and wanting to be a pilot that I will<br />
work as a soldier in the Army for 20 years; support the Secretary of the Army and<br />
Navy in a variety of data collection and management projects; support a half dozen<br />
configuration and data management functions for NASA projects and programs<br />
(including the Constellation Program); create my own company and work to present<br />
pertinent tower data to wireless customers as dabble in communications transmission<br />
security sales -- well -- I would have told them they were just crazy! What a ride this<br />
has been for me and my family! WOOO HOOO<br />

Favorite Memory Capt. McElroy ( now retired LTC) was company commander. He and wife came through<br />
the barracks on Christmas Eve. I had a friend from another unit visiting and it was 10am<br />
in the morning and there was no heat, as the barracks boiler was dead. So we were<br />
drinking when there was a knock on my door. My friend yelled,"Come in if you're ugly<br />
and horny!" In walks Capt. McElroy and his wife carrying a box with coffee mugs and<br />
chocolates for every single soldier in the barracks. He laughed and took a toast with us. I<br />
heard later that his wife had to help him home. Just thinking about that memory, makes<br />
me smile. Also my TDY missions with SGT. Vines. He and his wife are two of my<br />
closest friends to this day<br />

Favorite Memory Hanging out partying with friends. Too many times to mention all. The fest were a<br />
really good time.<br />
Worst Memory Robert Shawn and the night of Rum at the Lasoirre. Got my head busted open by him<br />
and it took like 13 stitches in my head to close up. They could not find a doc to give me<br />
pain medicine so I said sew it up I can't feel anything right now anyway. Also the day I<br />
flew back to the states on Pan AM was the day after the Pan AM flight was bombed over<br />
Lockerbie, Scotland.<br />

Special Comments Best time of my single life was pent at Camp King, will never forget the fun I had there<br />
and the friends I made. Thanks to facebook we have hooked back up after all these<br />

in Berchtesgaden and Austria! Going to the brewery in Austria where the Monks served<br />
the beer was an especially good time, Also the Three Countries Tour with Connie was<br />
great al well. Too many times to remember right now.<br />
Worst Memory Hmmmmm.....only one person knows what this might be..other than that, I missed my<br />
family a LOT???. I would start to see their faces in the German people..)<br />

from 1979 - 1983. He had hoped that some day the people that were at Camp King<br />

concert, a band I had wanted to see so badly, and during the opening act, right before<br />
AC/DC came on, Kim fell and busted open her head and we had to go to the emergency<br />
room. Never even got to see AC/DC: (I am still a little salty over that)<br />
