T.E.S.S. Shoulder System
SHOULDER SYSTEM
The range of T.E.S.S. shoulder prostheses (modular and monoblock) are
indicated in the following cases:
• Except in special cases, the «anatomic» type is indicated for:
- Centered osteoarthritis of the shoulder
- Humeral head fractures
- Rheumatoid arthritis (with intact rotator cuff)
- Avascular necrosis of the humeral head
• Except in special cases, the «reversed» type is indicated for:
- Offset osteoarthritis of the shoulder
- Massive and non-repairable rotator cuff tears
- Rheumatoid arthritis (with degenerative rotator cuff)
• Revision in cases of:
- Replacement of an «anatomic» prosthesis with
a «reversed» prosthesis
- Conversion of a hemi-arthroplasty into a total arthroplasty
- Increasing the size of the stem (length and/or diameter)
- Replacing a glenoid prosthesis
- Replacing a glenoid insert
- Replacing a competitor’s prosthesis
- In rare cases, removing a «reversed» prosthesis
and replacing it with an «anatomic» prosthesis
• Additional indications for the monoblock range:
- Massive loss of bone matter
- Proximal fracture of the humerus
- Destruction of the bone
- Local bone tumors
- Replacing a modular prosthesis
Anatomic
Anatomic
and bone preserving
Anatomical corolla
• The anatomic corolla is made of Cobalt Chrome with
Porous T40 Titanium and Hydroxyapatite coating.
It consists of 6 branches, and a taper to fix the
anatomical heads.
• The corolla is impacted into the centre of the humerus,
with a stem less fixation allowing minimal loss of bone
stock.
• The corolla is implanted by referencing the patients
natural anatomy so it is always positioned at the individual
patients normal offset and inclination.
• Four sizing options.
6
Flat surface
Spherical surface
Pegs
Centred
and eccentric
Designed for a
good stability
Anatomical heads
• Available in two versions :
- centred
- eccentric with 5 mm offset
• The head is fixed on the corolla
with a taper.
• In 6 diameters for each version.
Cemented Full PE glenoid
• Made from ArCom polyethylene with an anatomical
shape and following design considerations :
- a flat periphery for improved stability
- a central convex section for bone stock
preservation
- an original keel with 3 pegs for good cement
fixation
• A minimal polyethylene thickness of 3 mm.
• 4 sizing options.
Glenoid Base Plate
One baseplate for the two options : anatomic
Cementless Metal-back
glenoid baseplate
• The glenoid baseplate is made in
Porous Titanium TA6V Macrobond and
Hydroxyapatite.
• The glenoid baseplate can receive
either an anatomical insert of polyethylene
or a reverse head.
1
2
3
• The posterior surface of the baseplate
includes :
- a flat peripheral surface to maximise
stability
- a central convex section to preserve
the bone stock
- a central keel with a possibility of a compression screw 1 ,
or a extension keel 2 in case of revision or poor bone quality
- primary fixation from anterior and posterior screws and
with 2 optional antero posterior spikes for medio lateral
fixation, which can be replaced with locking screws for
greater fixation 3
Reverse version
12°
Ajustable screws
12°
and reverse
• The locking screws, diameter 4.5 mm
in 7 lengths are manufactured from
TA6V Titanium Alloy.
• The glenoid preparation for both
glenoid implants, cemented and
cementless, is made with the
same instrumentation.
• 4 sizing options.
4 fixation points
• For the anatomical version :
4 sizes of insert in ArCom polyethylene, with 4 fixation
points.
• The anatomical PE insert has a central peg for easy
positioning into the base plate.
T.E.S.S. Shoulder System
Reversed
Reverse corolla
• Cobalt Chrome with a Porous Titanium T40
and Hydroxyapatite coating.
The PE insert is locked in the reversed corolla
with a RingLoc system.
• The corolla is impacted into the centre of the
humerus. As the prosthesis is stemless there is
no injury to the intramedullary canal.
Reverse head
• Cobalt Chrome, available in 2 diameters :
- Diameter 36 with the glenoid 0 and 1
- Diameter 41 with the glenoid 2 and 3
• Fixed on the baseplate with a central taper.
• Center of rotation lateralized by 3 mm.
• 4 sizing options.
3 mm
Lateralisation of the
center of rotation
10
Reverse insert
• ArCom polyethylene available in 4
thicknesses : 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm.
- The sizes 0 and 1 are 36 mm in
diameter.
- The size 2 is available in 36 mm
and 41 mm options
- The size 3 is 41 mm in diameter
The stem
• The optional humeral stem can be
used in cases of poor bone quality
or when additional stability is
required 1 .
• Cemented in proximal humeral
fracture cases.
• In Cobalt Chrome, available in
5 lengths and 6 diameters .
• The stems can be implanted with
or without cement.
• The proximal stem has a Titanium
porous coating for bone ingrowth.
• The distal part of the stem is
polished and has 2 anti-rotational
flutes for a better fixation in cement.
• When the corolla is used without
stem, it is advisable to use the
“small stem” 2 .
