Lunch with Frankie Avalon
Celebrity Attractions again partnered with the Rose State
College Foundation to provide the entertaining Lunch with
Frankie Avalon. The event was held in the Rose State College
Communications Center January 13, 2004. Individuals and
groups attended the luncheon at the “local hangout” to enjoy
burgers, fries, soda and dessert. The event was highlighted by
comments from Frankie Avalon and participant pictures taken
with him.
President Jim Cook, Foundation Chairman Kay Hughes
and entertainer Frankie Avalon
Avalon was in Oklahoma City to appear in Celebrity
Attractions’ production of “Grease.” This fundraising event
provided $10,000 for scholarships. Larry Payton and Ed
Payton of Celebrity Attractions have been invaluable partners
with the Rose State College Foundation. Over the past six
years, “Lunch with the Stars” events have raised over
$50,000 for scholarships.
First National Bank Charity Golf Classic
It was a record-breaking year! The First
National Bank Charity Golf Classic topped
$50,000 for student scholarships. With a full
compliment of teams, awesome silent auction
packages and a willingness on the part of all
participants to give to a worthy cause, funding
for student scholarships was given a big boost.
On June 10, 2004, the major sponsors were
treated to a dinner at Coach's and a Redhawks
baseball game. The golf classic began on June
11 with check-in and receipt of a bag of golf
items, followed by lunch sponsored by the
Rose State College professional associations
and served by President Jim Cook and his executive
team.
Regent Robert Croak, Regent Betty Wright, President Jim Cook and
Executive Director Susan Loveless
As players finished their rounds of golf, a dinner sponsored by Spencer’s Smokehouse and the Oklahoma Pork
Council was served. Sponsors, golf teams, donors, Rose State College faculty and staff and First National Bank
employees all combined for a great tournament. The Foundation gives special recognition to First National Bank
President Robert H. Croak and Executive Vice President William Croak for their vision to help students through a
creative and fun event. In 10 years, the tournament has generated over $200,000 in donations for scholarships.
Solicitation Project
Increasing donors and donations was identified as one way to increase funds of the Rose State College Foundation.
Trustees identified three to five individuals they felt would have an interest in the Foundation. Letters were sent to each
individual and one-on-one visits will be conducted for follow-up. A second part of this project is a letter to new Rose
State College employees from the chairman of the Foundation explaining the relationship of the Foundation to the
College and inviting employees to become part of the Foundation. The third part of the project involves alumni. A letter
will be sent to alumni inviting them to support the Foundation through the alumni organization.
