Academic Support The Rose State College Foundation includes in its budget funds for academic support of special programs and projects of the College. Funding is provided for students and faculty who receive the Honors Contract awards and the Honors graduates; students and faculty who receive the Service-Learning awards; student leadership activities; and support of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Other requests for special support are considered on an individual basis, pending available funding. Professor Carl Sennhenn congratulates student Anna Kate Miller. Miller was recognized for outstanding work on her honors contract project. RSC Foundation Chairman Kay Hughes and Service-Learning Director Jean Dunlap present faculty members Janet Mitchell, Arnold Waggoner, Kathy Baumwart, Eileen Dewey, Jack O'Donnell and Dan Ratcliff with Service-Learning Merit Awards. Each received $100 stipends for their outstanding work with students.
ROSE STATE COLLEGE FOUNDATION ENDOWMENTS Connie Howell and Sue Tytgat present Executive Vice President Terry Britton with a donation from Boeing. The Rose State College Foundation has six endowments that provide funding for special purposes. Each endowment is matched by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and earnings from both sources of funding are available on an annual basis for distribution to support the specific programs. The Croak Endowment for the Business and Information Technology Division provides funding for special training for faculty to maintain state-of-the-art skills for classroom instruction, upgrades for specialized equipment and travel for faculty and students to educational programs and conferences. The Hudiburg Endowment for Student Services provides funding for tutoring, ACT preparation, tutored study hall and summer activities for at-risk students in the Mid-Del high schools. Keeping at-risk students in school and preparing them for post-secondary education are the two main purposes of the program. The Hardin/Miller Endowment for Small Business provides training and technical assistance to local small businesses. An advisory committee has defined the objectives for the endowment and outlined a plan of action for expenditure of the funds. The Excellence in Teaching and Learning Endowment provides funding to improve the teaching skills of Rose State College faculty and the learning environment for students. Activities that have already been undertaken by the College, such as the Teaching in Community Program, provide opportunities for faculty to renew their skills and passion for teaching to keep Rose State College a truly student-centered/learner-centered institution. James F. Howell “Country Lawyer” Lectureship provides an opportunity for the College to bring regional and national speakers to the campus and community on issues related to law and government. Each year a speaker is selected to address the national law day topic, a legal topic or an issue of government policy. Don S. Reynolds Lectureship is designed to provide additional opportunities to bring individuals of regional and national stature to the campus and community to discuss topics relevant to current events, liberal arts or the humanities.
