A short Bio on Don Reedman by Jerome Bleijie Don Reedman left Australia and came to England in 1969 and began work for ATV Music as a song plugger. The first record that he was involved with was 'Sugar Sugar' by the Archies, which spent eight weeks at number one. After a year, he left to join Carlin Music as a professional manager and found songs for Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard and many more. Don signed Michael Crawford as he was finishing in The Phantom Of The Opera and co-produced four platinum albums for him as follows: Songs From The Stage And Screen With Love Performs Andrew Lloyd Webber A Touch Of Music In The Night In the 1970s Don joined K-Tel and created compilation albums selling over 40 million copies world-wide. Whilst at K-Tel, he also created and produced the 'Classic Rock series' with the London Symphony Orchestra, and 'Hooked On Classics' with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which received a Grammy nomination and sold over 15 million albums. In 1984 he joined Sony Music as Director of Concept Marketing, creating the first 'Hits' series, which sold over four million units in the UK and also worked with single artists as diverse as Art Garfunkel and Shakin’ Stevens. In the later 80s Don joined Telstar and was instrumental in the creation of the 100%, MegaBass and Unchained Melodies series. He also worked with single artists such as Jive Bunny, which sold over one million units in the UK and in the 90s also had success with The Best Dance Album of the Year ‘95 and Dance Nation ‘95. He also co-produced the hit duet with Barbra Streisand of “The Music Of The Night” which was nominated for a Grammy award. In 1996 Don formed Focus Music International, a company that specialises in creative concepts and works independently of and directly with the major record companies. Don's great friend Peter Clifford standing next to a very famous Rolls Royce AX201 - the original Silver Ghost which is now owned by Bentley Motors Ltd. Peter encouraged Don to leave Australia and move overseas to enter the music business in the 1960's 12
Recent Events.... National Bentley Rally 12th to 14th Sept 2008 by Bob Elliott Vintage Bentleys in the car park contrasted with the huge modern "dishes" in the background. The enthusiasm of the presenter held us spellbound as he showed photographs from the space probes and explained the fascinating work being done there. I am sure we all left with a renewed interest in space exploration. It was the turn of the Victorians to host this National Rally, and with the BDC Victorian Region and the BDCA working together, a gathering of over 80 Bentleys made for a remarkable event in the National Capital. I believe it was the largest ever assembly of Bentleys in Australia. What a joy it was to see the Brassey Hotel literally surrounded by Bentleys old, new and in between, with our club members contributing about 27 of the cars. The Rally packs, bulging with wines, car products, books and other items gave an indication of the preparation that had gone into this event, and the standards were maintained during the remainder of the weekend. Dinner at the Brassey Hotel on Friday evening gave us the opportunity to learn a little about Burley Griffin and Canberra, and to chat with friends old and new over a good meal. Peter Willcox (VIC) brought along this lovely Bentley 3 Ltr which was originally owned by the famous Bentley Boy Frank Clement Saturday morning saw us driving in fine weather through the foothills of the Brindabella Ranges to the Deep Space Tracking Station at Tidbinbilla, nestled in a valley to protect the antennae from interference from the city of Canberra.
