…and our March gig at Jamison was a great success…

What a turnout! Around 70 people listened to some terrific jazz and what great support again
from our musicians – all 12 of them including Ian Hill up from the coast!!

As Margaret mentioned in her President’s
Report, the sit-in bracket was a huge success,
there was barely enough room for all
the musicians. Visitors, Dirk Zeylmans on
tenor sax and John Sharpe on trombone
were literally standing in the corridor!
A highlight of the afternoon was a couple of
numbers delivered superbly by some past
members of the old Fortified Few – John
Sharpe, Tony Thomas, Terry Wynn, Ian Hill
& Jim Styles.
With so many people there, the gig felt like
the good days of old and everyone seemed to
enjoy themselves. There were quite a few old
and new faces in the crowd and President
Margaret, always on the lookout for new
members, was quick to whip out a few
membership forms – good on you Margaret.

Our Jamison gigs are proving a great success
and a great way also to keep in touch with
friends and musicians alike. Hoping to see
another big crowd at our next gig on Sunday
17 June.
Our Club is going from strength to strength
so keep up the good work folks – without the
support of our members, we have no Club.
Editor’s note: once again apologies for the quality
of the photos – either the camera is being difficult
or it’s operator error (the latter I suspect). I
probably need lessons on indoor photography but
meanwhile, hubby has decided to buy me a new
camera. So, look out folks, I could be in your face
soon!
