Special Needs Nippers
You may have seen some new nippers members
and their parents on the beach between 11am-
12.30pm on Sunday mornings. The Special Needs
Nippers program is in full flight with 11 new
members from U6 to U12 participating in beach
events, some basic beach information, in the water
on the new Torpedo Boards and some great all
round fun. Our kids come from all over Sydney
with most attending the Vern Barnett School for
Autism at Forestville. Lend Lease Foundation
provided a $5,000 Community Grant for the
program which has been used to purchase new
equipment and meet the fees and costs for the
participants. Chris Rath (Distinguished Club
member), who is also a Lend Lease employee,
has returned to Sundays on the beach to be
involved.

Ultimately, this is about providing access and fun
on the beach for those kids that may not normally
be involved in beach activities, learn about safety
on the beach and in the water whilst having a
great time. Thank you for the support of the
Nippers Committee, Jo Cooper, Chris Rath, Shane
O'Neill for their involvement and some of our
senior nippers including Mia Stewart, Emma
Hillier, Jack Watt and Olivia Gompes for their
assistance in the water. A special thank you to
Bear Cottage who donated a beach going wheel
chair for those kids that may not be able to access
the sand. Please make them all feel welcome and
your involvement is welcome.
