Our Commitment to the Credit Union Philosophy The Summit Federal Credit Union will work to build and strengthen our unique credit union movement by providing financial and in-kind resources to others within the credit union community. We will actively advocate for the credit union at all levels of government and in other appropriate public forums. We will participate in local, state and national cooperative activities as appropriate, and will strive to build and strengthen relationships with other sectors of the national cooperative movement. Buffalo Credit Unions Join Together We’ve enhanced important relationships with other Buffalo area credit unions by taking a leadership role in the establishment of the Erie/Niagara Credit Union Cooperative group. The mission is to raise the awareness of all credit unions in an effort to provide affordable financial services to members in that region. This is a long term cooperative plan of action including joint advertising, a website explaining the benefits of credit union membership www.acreditunioncan.com, plus other key legislative and educational initiatives. Waived Surcharge Partnerships with Other Financial Institution. We are proud to partner with fellow credit unions and even some banks to provide surcharge-free access to hundreds of ATMs across out Wester New York region. Why? Because it provides more convenience and cost-savings for our valued members. 2. Board positions and participation on Committees for the New York State Credit Union League, Rochester Chapter and Buffalo Chapter 3. Member of the USNet and national CU Service Centers shared branching networks 4
The Summit Federal Credit Union will endeavor to preserve credit union democratic principles, including demographic representation and volunteer participation in credit union activities. Here are some of the ways that we are involved in the credit union movement on a local, regional, state, and national level: 5 Volunteer Board Members Michael S. Baker, COO of The Summit, serves on The Board of The New York State Credit Union League Rochester Chapter Council Rochester Chapter Communications Council Rochester Chapter Meetings/Events Buffalo Chapter Financial Education Committee Credit Union Awards and Achievements Jeffrey W. Peters, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Michael S. Vadala, President & CEO The Summit is proud to be actively involved in the credit union movement through our advocacy and through the actions of our staff and volunteers. Many of our achievements have been recognized by the NY State Credit Union League including: 2005 Desjardins Youth Financial Literacy Award for numerous youth financial education programs. 2006 Volunteer of the Year Award to Bill Reifsteck, Summit volunteer and long standing Board Member for his many years of service to The Summit and other nonprofit organizations. 2006 Hillman Marketing Award for our outstanding shared branching media campaigns over the past two years. 2007 Outstanding Professional Award to Michael Vadala, President and CEO of The Summit FCU for his exemplary accomplishments and dedication to the credit union movement.
