CARDIGAN WITH ¾ SLEEVES

Materials: Art. 48 Aktiv Pronto 450 (600 (600) g bluepetrol-brown
color 13, Art. 13 Strapaz 100 g black color
00, size 3 – 3 ½ knitting needles, 1 long size 3 circular
needle, 5 buttons
Stitches:
Stockinette st: on right side, knit; on wrong side: purl.
Back is worked using 2 balls of yarn. In order to maintain
the same color patterning as fronts, alternately work 2
rows with one ball and 2 rows with the second ball.
1x1 Ribbing: 1st row: alternately K1 and P1. All following
rows: knit into purl, purl into knit.
Gauge: Using Aktiv Pronto, 24 sts and 36 rows, in
Stockinette st = 10x10 cm. Take time to check gauge and
switch needles if necessary.
Instructions:
Back: Using black cast on 106 (114) (122) sts and work
10 rows in 1x1 Ribbing. Continue working in Stockinette
st using blue-petrol-brown. When work measures 39
cm, for armholes bind off 1x4, 1x2 and 4x1 (1x4, 2x2
and 4x1) (1x5, 2x2 and 4x1) sts at both edges, every 2
rows. When work measures 58 (59) (61) cm, for neckline
shaping bind off the center 34 (36) (38) sts and work
each half separately. Rounded neck shape: bind off 1x3,
1x2 and 1x1 sts, every 2 rows. Then bind off the rem 20
(21) (23) shoulder sts.
Right front: Using black cast on 53 (57) (61) sts and work
same as back. When work measures 35 cm, for neckline
shaping decrease 23 (24) (25) x 1 st, alternately every
2 and 4 rows. Decrease as follows: knit the 2nd and 3rd
st tog. When work measures 60 cm, bind off the rem 20
(21) (23) shoulder sts.
Left front: work same as right front, reversing all shaping.
Sleeves: Using black cast on 46 (52) (58) sts and work
10 rows in 1x1 Ribbing. Using blue-petrol-brown continue
working in Stockinette st. For sleeve width increase 18x1
st at both edges, every 8 rows. When work measures 40
cm, for sleeve cap bind off 1x4, 1x2 and 2x1 (1x4, 2x2
and 4x1) (1x5, 2x2 and 4x1) sts at both edges, every 2
rows; 5 (6) (7) x 1 st at both edges, every 4 rows and
2x1, 2x3 and 1x5 sts at both edges, every 2 rows. Bind
off the rem 20 sts.
Finishing: Pin pieces out to measurement, slightly steam
them and allow to dry. Sew shoulders. Using black with
circular needle pick up 131 (135) (139) sts along fronts,
59 (62) (65) sts along back neck (= 321 (332) (343) sts),
knit a wrong side row and then work 9 more rows in 1x1
Ribbing. Evenly work 5 buttonholes in the 4th row of right
front. Sew on buttons. Sew in sleeves, matching center of
sleeve and shoulder seam. Sew sleeve and side seams.
