PULLOVER WITH RAGLAN SLEEVES
Size: 36/38, 40/42, 44/46
Instructions are given for size 36/38, with larger sizes in parentheses.
353
Materials: Art. 36 Steinbach Sport 500 (600) (700)g
Blue Berry color 81, 2 size 6 circular needles: one 80 cm
long and one 60 cm long. A cable needle, 2 large stitch
holders, 2 stitch markers or waste yarn, 3 buttons
Stitches:
2x2 Ribbing: alternately K2 and P2.
Stockinette st: on right side, knit; on wrong side: purl.
Gauge: 14 sts and 21 rows, in Stockinette st = 10x10
cm. Take time to check gauge and switch needles if
necessary.
Instructions: The pullover is worked in the round in one
piece, from neckline to lower edge.
The raglan seams consist of a cable over 6 sts = P1, K4,
P1. You will be cabling the center 4 sts every 8 rows (=
transfer 2 sts to a cable needle, hold in front, K2; K2
from cable needle). The center cable consists of 11 sts
= P1, K9, P1 and is worked as follows: * after 5 rows:
P1, transfer 3 sts to a cable needle, hold in front, K3; K3
from cable needle, K3, P1. After 5 rows: P1, K3, transfer
3 sts to a cable needle, hold in back, K3; K3 from cable
needle, P1. Repeat from * to *.
Work as follows: Using the shorter needle, cast on 46
(48) (50) sts, start working in back and forth rows. In the
first row (wrong side) work in stitch pattern as follows:
P1 (front), K1, P4, K1 (= raglan seam), P4 (= sleeve), 6
sts raglan seam, P12 (P14) (P16) (= back), 6 sts raglan
seam, P4 (= 2nd sleeve), 6 sts raglan seam, P1 (= front).
2nd row: duplicate the first and last st = neckline, at either
edge of cables, work 1 stitch picking up the horizontal
strand of yarn = 10 sts increased in this row.
3rd row: work all sts as they appear; purl the increased
sts.
Repeat the 2nd and 3rd row 2 more times.
Now for neckline shaping at both edges cast 5 (7) (9) sts
onto needle and join work. At the same time divide sts,
placing 11 sts for cable in front center. Continue working
in the round, at both edges of raglan cables increasing 1
st, every 2 rows (= 8 sts increased). Use the larger needle
if there are too many sts on your needle. After increasing
18 (19) (20) sts, transfer the sts for sleeve plus half of the
sts of raglan seam to a stitch holder or waste yarn; at both
edges cast 2 sts onto needle between front and back and
continue working in the round. Place the stitch markers
between the cast-on sts in the side seams or mark with
waste yarn. After finishing 6 cm side seam, for waistline
work 5x 2 sts together after every 4 rows, at both edges
of markers. Then increase 5x one stitch, every 6 rows at
both edges of markers. When side seam measures 42 cm
work 8 more rows in 2x2 Ribbing and bind off all sts in
2x2 Ribbing. For sleeves pick up sts from stitch holder and
place them on shorter circular needle, at side seam cast
2 sts onto needle and mark these sts. Continue working in
the round and work 2 sts tog 18 (19) (20) times every 4
rows, at both edges of the marked sts. When side seam
measures 40 (42) (43) cm work 8 more rows in 2x2
Ribbing, then bind of in 2x2 Ribbing.
Finishing: Collar: pick up 57 (60) (63) sts along neck
edge and purl 1 row twisted. Then work 6 rows * K1 and
P2 *. In the 7th row, duplicate the knit sts and continue
working * K2 and P2 *. When work measures 12 cm
bind off all sts in pattern. Weave in ends, turn the collar
