ANNUAL BSA PRO-AM TOURNAMENT
The 36 th Annual Pro-Am Golf Tournament, held at Hogan Park
Golf Course in Midland, is coming August 30 th .
Mark your calendars and plan on participating.
If you would like to join us, have a team in
the tournament, or be a sponsor, let us know.

the tournament is a shamble format. Teams of 3 with a golf
Pro as your 4th member are only $800 (includes hole sponsorship).
Sponsorships are available for: Holes, Shirts, Dinner/BBQ,
Drinks, Hole-in-one, Golf Balls, and more. Space is limited so
reserve your spot today!

VENTURING AGE/GRADE
ELIGIBILITY CHANGE
The National Executive Board recently approved a resolution to
change the eligibility requirements for Venturing to ensure
consistency among Venturing, high-adventure bases, and other
core programs.
The current age and grade eligibility requirement for
participation in the Venturing program is 14 years of age and
completion of the eighth grade.
Effective May 1, 2010, the minimum age
requirement will be changed to 14
years of age, or 13 years of age and
completion of the eighth grade.
The maximum age for
participation remains under 21
years of age.

Into the Flames
Cub Scout, Robby May of Pack 216,
Chaparral District, tosses his flag portion into
the flames from a safe distance.
In celebration and memory of the
100 years of Scouting, Boy Scouts
and Cub Scouts from Midland,
Odessa, Big Spring, and other
cities within the Council gathered
February 13th for a Flag
Retirement Ceremony. The
ceremony recognized the Flag of
the United States, as well as
remembered its history, and to
retire flags too worn to properly
represent their country. Every boy
had an opportunity to participate in
the retirement of the flags. While
watching the flags disappear into
the flames, one boy remarked
“That is so sad!” Gratefully we
recognize that even the younger
generation understands both the
respect and the solemnity in
retiring our great historic National
Symbol.
