The new Boxster and Cayman models
When a real roadster meets
a distinctive personality.
The new Boxster and Cayman models.
Discover your Inner Fire.
Though 60 years of automotive evolution has seen
many changes, the cornerstones of the Boxster
remain unchanged. Sports performance, lightweight
construction, agility and pure driving pleasure. All
neatly packaged in a two-seat, mid-engine sports
car destined to be a modern classic.
Above all, the new Boxster models are governed
by extreme performance. Brand new engine
developments translate to higher capacity and
extremely smooth running. The Boxster’s six-cylinder
boxer engine, fitted with VarioCam Plus, now has a
2.9-litre capacity, which develops 188 kW (255 hp)
and takes the 0 – 100 km/h sprint in only 5.9
seconds before the acceleration ends at a top
speed of 263 km/h. The new Boxster S 3.4-litre
engine features direct fuel injection (DFI) and even
more power, developing an impressive 228 kW
(310 hp) and reaching 274 km/h top speed while the
acceleration to 100 km/h takes just 5.3 seconds.
Faster acceleration and lower fuel consumption
are also a reality with the optional Porsche
Doppelkupplung (PDK), available for both models.
Attention to detail means that nothing is overlooked.
The suspension of the new Boxster models have
been tuned in tandem with the engine’s increased
power. The enhanced Porsche Stability Management
(PSM) now includes two additional features.
Precharging of the braking system, and Brake
Assist both contribute towards shortening stopping
distances and increasing active safety. The mid-
engine design, in combination with the complex
chassis technology, result in an impressively smooth
ride even during cornering, braking and acceleration.
Pushing the boundaries of technical limitations, with
a seamless blend of function and design. The new
Boxster models remain true roadsters.
Go your own way.
An uncompromising declaration of individuality. Two
sports coupes that go beyond all conventions. Two
cars that draw their drivers under their spell, forever.
Two brand new engine developments continue to
herald the arrival of the new Cayman and Cayman S.
Outstanding for their lightweight construction,
power output and efficiency, their drive for power is
extraordinary. And the design? With a striking new
headlight concept, the new Cayman models are a
declaration of individuality.
The unmistakable sound of the Cayman belies its
powerful core: the familiar 6-cylinder, mid-engine
concept. The new 2.9-litre flat-six engine of the
Cayman delivers 195 kW (265 hp), an acceleration
from 0 – 100 km/h within 5.8 seconds and a top
speed of 265 km/h. The Cayman S goes one step
further, now for the first time with direct fuel injection
(DFI), a 3.4-litre engine and a power output of
235 kW (320 hp), leading to a top speed of 277 km/h
and an acceleration to 100 km/h within 5.2 seconds.
The optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) delivers
even faster rates of acceleration by significantly
reducing the time taken between gear selection and
gear engagements and is available as an option on
either model.
The Cayman models also incorporate the Porsche
Stability Management (PSM) as a standard feature,
to give you peace of mind while driving as the
automated control system stabilises the vehicle
at the limits of dynamic driving performance.
Completely revised suspension tuning ensures your
comfort on both short and longer journeys. Smooth
acceleration is readily matched by impressive braking
power, as both new Cayman models feature internally
vented brake discs to comfortably tame the power of
the engine.
Uncompromisingly sporty – the new Cayman and
Cayman S. Two different characters. One personality.
Their drive for power is impressive, their spirited
nature fascinating. The only question left to consider:
which one suits you best? n
Porsche Exclusive & Tequipment
The new Cayman and the new Boxster – now
with even more personality. New highlights
of the Porsche Exclusive & Tequipment
collection.
Each Porsche is a full-blooded sports car. Its sporty design is coordinated harmoniously with the entire
vehicle. Every detail tells a story of equal proportion. A fascinating one. A compelling one. But not
necessarily the same one. It is the small but significant difference. Something that highlights individuality
without concealing its origins. Something that accentuates personality without hiding its roots. We’ve
given a name to this “something” – Exclusive & Tequipment. So that your Porsche is yours for ever.
Wheels, mirror attachment point finisher, air intake grills in the rear side section
On the outside it’s sporty throughand-through.
To increase the distinctive sporty looks of the Boxster
and Cayman models, you could start with the exterior –
by using additional painted elements, for instance. New
options for this include air intake grilles in the exterior
colour on the front end of Cayman models, as well
as painted air intakes on the rear side section of the
Boxster and Cayman models. The latter are available
in the exterior colour for Boxster models and in a
contrasting exterior colour for Cayman models. New
for Cayman models is the option of having the grille
in the rear apron 1) sprayed in GT Silver Metallic. This
feature applies to both sides of the rear apron and
adds to the sporty design.
Aerokit Cayman.
Aerokit Cayman 1) is another customisation option. It
comprises new front splitter spoilers and a fixed rear
spoiler on the tailgate for optimum aerodynamics and
design. Please note that the approach angle is reduced.
Painted wheels.
New in the Tequipment programme are the 19-inch
SportDesign wheels, black (gloss) 1) . The wheel centre
is painted entirely in black. The wheel hub cover, also
painted black, displays a coloured Porsche crest and
is included.
For vehicles with Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM),
Porsche Tequipment now offers the option of
decorative valve caps embossed with the Porsche
crest. A small detail that makes the overall
appearance of your tyres even more exclusive.
Some go racing to look for a thrill.
For us, it comes from inside.
Experience alone might be enough to build a
sports car. But not a Porsche. And certainly not
the 911 GT3. Such cars demand much more and
rely on engineers devoted to developing racing cars
with a passion for motorsport. That’s how the heart
of the 911 GT3 was created – the new engine.
A development produced for motorsport – of course,
with higher performance.
It is perhaps the clearest evidence of
our inner mindset.
The new 911 GT3 is powered by a six-cylinder water-
cooled boxer engine with four-valve technology. With
its new 3,797 cm 3 displacement, the engine develops
320 kW (435 hp). The maximum torque is 430 Nm. The
maximum RPM is 8,500 rpm. The new 911 GT3 passes
the 100 km/h mark after just 4.1 seconds. Its top
speed: 312 km/h. The power-to-weight ratio: 312 hp per
tonne. Output per litre: 115 hp per litre displacement.
In short, the new 911 GT3 now performs even better
with comparable consumption. It’s compliance with
the strict EU5 exhaust emissions standard also
demonstrates a clear commitment to protecting the
environment.
The engine in the new 911 GT3 is equipped with
an improved VarioCam, a valve-actuating concept
that distinguishes between different load states
and adjusts automatically to current demands. The
optimised system now regulates not only RPM and
load-dependent adjustments to the intake camshaft,
but also to the exhaust camshaft as well. For even
more power and torque.
The vehicle chassis has absolute
directional stability. A real driving
experience.
The new 911 GT3 sits 30 mm lower than the
911 Carrera. Its uncompromising lightweight
construction keeps the total weight and the weight
of the unsprung mass as low as possible. It stands
for extraordinary agility, high driving safety and
secure handling, especially on corners. Every setting
you need for the racetrack can be made to the
vehicle chassis: height, camber, tracking, and the
stabilisers on the front and rear axles.
The new 911 GT3
Because the vehicle chassis is so securely attached
to the body, elastic load transfers are lower and
wheel tracking is more precise, in turn resulting in
better handling and steering.
One new development is the optional Porsche Active
Drivetrain Mount (PADM)* dynamic engine suspension
– an electronically controlled system for minimising
oscillations and vibrations in entire drive units, but
especially in the engine. Its effect? Whenever you steer
your new 911 GT3 into a corner, the vehicle follows
the direction you steer. The mass of the engine,
however, does not. The result is that the rear of the
vehicle on the rear axle is pushed outward when
cornering. The new PADM minimises this effect
by constantly measuring steering angle, rates of
longitudinal and lateral acceleration with a sensor.
The characteristics of both engine mounts are
adjusted automatically according to driving style.
Both on the racetrack and in everyday situations,
this provides betting handling with shifting loads in
fast bends that you can feel.
The optional Porsche Active Suspension Management
(PASM) add-on improves driving stability even further
by actively and continuously controlling the damper
force for each wheel depending on driving style and
situation. It helps to ensure high agility and superior
handling characteristics.
High performance demands a high
degree of safety.
The strengthened body structure of the new 911 GT3
offers a high degree of protection in a collision in
addition to a very robust passenger cell. The driver
and passenger airbags activate at one of two levels
depending on the impact force. In minor collisions,
they deploy at the first stage. The airbags are softer
and reduce the shock to passengers. The standard
POSIP comprises both side impact protection in the
doors as well as two side airbags per side. With
thorax and head airbags, it offers high protection
potential for lateral accidents.
Uncompromising on the race circuit.
Comfortable in everyday situations.
The origin of the new 911 GT3’s interior is clear –
motorsport. Everything the driver needs is within
reach and visible at all times.
Two high-quality materials underscore the sportiness
of the new 911 GT3 – leather and Alcantara. The
advantages of Alcantara are that it is non-slip,
washable, and easy to look after. That’s why you’ll
find it in the places you place your hands most
– on the steering wheel, the gear lever and the
handbrake.
The new 911 GT3 – developed with the aim of
avoiding all compromises. From its inner sanctum. n
The new dynamic engine mounts
The new dynamic
engine mounts.
Motorsport and inertia are terms that should cancel
each other out. That’s why our engineers strive to
measure their developments against the laws of
physics. With its new dynamic engine mounts, the
911 GT3 is a bit better than the rest at conquering
inertia.
Its new feature is the optional dynamic engine
mounts (earliest availability: 09/2009), an
electronically controlled system for minimising
noticeable oscillations and vibrations in the entire
drive unit, especially the engine.
The motor is mounted to the rear part of the body in
two places. According to the law of inertia, a body
in a state of uniform movement along a straight line
will continue to move uniformly in a straight
line until acted upon by outside forces that alter its
state. Put simply, if you steer your new 911 GT3
into a corner, the vehicle will follow the direction you
steer. The mass of the engine, however, will not at
first. The result is that the rear of the vehicle on
the rear axle is pushed outward due to the inertial
forces of the engine mass.
Magnetic forces work against
inertia.
And the new dynamic engine mounts minimise this
effect. Steering angle and rates of longitudinal and
lateral acceleration are measured constantly by
sensors and the characteristics of both engine
mounts are adjusted automatically according
to driving style. This is achieved by mean of a
magnetisable (magnetorheological) fluid and an
electronically generated magnetic field.
The magnetisable particles realign themselves and
the fluid’s resistance changes, as do the stiffness
and damping of the engine mounts. They are
softer for more comfort and fewer vibrations in
normal driving situations or harder for a more direct
feeling of contact in more dynamic and sporty
driving situations. This is like the 911 GT3 racing
cars, in which the engine unit is directly mounted
on the body. The dynamic engine mounts also
reduce vertical engine oscillations during full-throttle
acceleration. The result is a higher and more uniform
propulsion force on the rear axle, more traction and
better acceleration.
Both on the racetrack and in everyday situations,
this means better handling with shifting loads in fast
corners that you can feel. n
The new Panamera
We have no experience in constructing
large, heavy limousines. Fortunately.
The new Panamera.
It’s always better to find the solution in your own
ranks. So there were no specific guidelines that
required rigid compliance. A limousine was not
wanted, neither was an estate or a coupé. What
we wanted was a Porsche. The new Panamera.
It’s all about driving as it was meant to be. And now
it doesn’t matter if you’re sitting in the front or in
the back. Over the course of the design process,
the Panamera models became powerful sportscars,
From left to right: Panamera 4S, Panamera S and Panamera Turbo
designed for long trips for four, with lots of luggage
and plenty of comfort but with the feeling of a
sportscar.
The models are three interpretations
of one idea.
The new Panamera Turbo embodies high performance
and sporty dynamics – it’s not called a turbo for
nothing. The Panamera S and Panamera 4S also
bring action to the breed. But what all Panamera
models have in common is that they dynamically
interpret the concept of luxury.
A novelty in the premium class:
sportscar engineering for four.
The new Panamera S and 4S have a 4.8 litre V8
cylinder naturally aspirated engine with direct fuel
injection (DFI), VarioCam Plus and a variable intake
system. It develops 294 kW (400 hp) at 6,500 rpm
and a maximum torque of 500 Nm between 3,500
rpm and 5,000 rpm. The rear-wheel drive Panamera S
with manual transmission can accelerate from 0 to
100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds. Its top speed is
285 km/h. With the optional Porsche dual clutch
transmission (Porsche Doppelkupplung – PDK),
these figures are 5.4 seconds and 283 km/h. The
seven-gear PDK, standard in both the Panamera 4S
and Panamera Turbo, distributes power between
the front and rear axles by the intelligent all-wheel
drive Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system
with an electronically controlled multi-disc clutch.
For optimum traction and stability. The Panamera 4S
accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds
and has a top speed of 282 km/h. The new Panamera
Turbo has a 4.8 litre V8 cylinder bi-turbo engine
with direct fuel injection (DFI), VarioCam Plus, and
charge-air cooling. It generates 368 kW (500 hp) at
6,000 rpm. Its maximum torque of 700 Nm is
attained between 2,250 rpm and 4,500 rpm.
Its top speed is 303 km/h. And it can accelerate
from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds.
Sportiness at the push of a button.
(715/2007/EC and 692/2008/EC) and the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle)
on standard specification vehicles. This data was not recorded on one individual
vehicle, does not constitute part of the offer and is provided solely for the
Panamera interior with four individual seats
They include Porsche Communication Management
(PCM) to improve vehicle dynamics even further, at
the push of a button.
You’ve got a front-row seat. In all
four spaces.
The first time you sit in any of the new Panamera
models, you can’t help noticing three things. First,
the forward-sloping centre console. Second, the
four individual seats. And third, the amount of room
and freedom of movement in the rear. The main
characteristic of the rear seats is that there are two
separate, individual seats. With plenty of leg and
head room, even for large adults. And excellent side
support, even during dynamic cornering. Comfort has
not been sacrificed. In the middle there is a stowable
middle armrest with a storage box. The backrest can
be adjusted separately to a ratio of 40:60. With the
optional large middle console, both backrests can be
adjusted individually while the console itself remains
fixed.
On request, comfort seats can be installed in the
rear of all new Panamera models. They come with
electronic backrest angle adjustment, seat length
adjustment, lumbar support – and the ability to
adjust the front passenger seat from the rear.
Audio and communication.
The CDR-31 audio system is standard in the
Panamera S and Panamera 4S and has a 7-inch
colour touchscreen monitor featuring fast and easy
scrolling through the most important functions
and menus. Porsche Communication Management
(PCM) comes as standard in the new Panamera
Turbo (optional in the Panamera S and 4S). PCM is
the central controlling unit for audio, navigation and
communication – versatile and efficient – yet easy to
operate. It comprises a navigation module with a quick
hard disk, a high-resolution 7-inch colour touchscreen,
and an optional voice control system. Options for the
middle console include an AUX interface for the PCM,
a USB port and a separate iPod ® port. You can also
choose to have a hybrid TV tuner installed to receive
unencrypted analogue and digital television. The
optional quad-band GSM telephone module is very
user-friendly with optimised speech quality. Either
insert your SIM card directly into the SIM card reader
integrated into the PCM and telephone using the
hands-free facility or a cordless receiver. Or, even
more conveniently, use the Bluetooth ® connection
on your mobile phone and the SIM Access Profile
(SAP). In addition, mobile phones that support
Handsfree Profile (HFP) can also be connected using
Bluetooth ® . The Panamera sets new standards for
sound systems too. The optional BOSE ® Surround
Sound System (standard in Panamera Turbo)
produces excellent sound quality. For those with the
highest demands in sound, technology and design
there is also the option of equipping the vehicle with
the Burmester ® High-End Surround Sound-System
– with both CDR-31 and PCM.
Rear: plenty of room. Right at the
back: even more room.
Room for four adults with their luggage in a Gran
Turismo? Yes, it’s possible. Only with Porsche. The
luggage compartment in the new Panamera models
has a volume of up to 445 litres. That’s enough for
four suitcases of different sizes – all of which you
can find in the Porsche Design Driver’s Selection
product line, matched to the exterior colour of your
vehicle, if you choose. Unusual in this vehicle class
are the rear seats that can be folded completely
or in sections. Folding them gives you a total of
1,263 litres of storage volume. The total useful
load of the Panamera S is 605 kg, the Panamera 4S
580 kg and the Panamera Turbo up to 530 kg.
Burmester ® High-End Surround Sound-System
Luggage compartment of the new Panamera models
The fourth dimension. Four doors. Four seats.
A sportscar for four. With room for luggage and
no compromises – it’s our contribution to premium
class driving, because we thought it could do with
a bit more pep. n
Porsche Museum
Breaking all conventions: the new Porsche
Museum is open!
It’s clear at first glance that the new Porsche
Museum is a cut above the rest. It doesn’t try to
blend in, but instead to stand out with its breath-
taking architecture. It has just opened its doors
and invites you to see things through Porsche’s
eyes.
As the new annex to the main factory in Stuttgart-
Zuffenhausen, Porsche’s museum is an architectural
wonder, resembling a detached and dynamically
formed body that seems to float over one storey
height above the earth. The 5,600-square-metre
exhibition hall is constructed on a foundation of
three cores of reinforced concrete.
Like the exhibition hall itself, the structure of the
new museum’s content is based on three pillars,
the chronological Porsche product history being the
central guide to help visitors find their way around.
Accompanying this are a number of exhibits focused
on different epochs, which direct visitors’ attention
to Porsche’s most important vehicles, racing
rankings and technical innovations.
The historical development and the exhibits devoted
to individual themes are connected by a number
of small exhibits that revolve around the distinctive
characteristics of the brand – the “Porsche idea”.
They speak of the spirit and passion that Porsche
stands for and honour both the corporation and the
people who develop and manufacture its products.
A total of 80 or so vehicles and numerous small
exhibits are on display. In addition to classic
Porsches like the 356, 550, 911 and 917, the
engineering efforts of Professor Ferdinand Porsche
from the early years of the 20 th century are also
commemorated.
Immediately on entering the foyer, visitors to the new
museum will encounter the fascination of the Porsche
brand. In addition to the snack bar, cafť and museum
shop, you can also take a look into the museum
workshop for historic Porsche vehicles. Here, expert
Porsche mechanics carry out maintenance both
on valuable antiques owned by private customers
as well as on the more than 400 museum vehicles
driven around the world as a “museum on wheels”.
Because all of the cars exhibited are also used on
the road, the appearance of the 80 vehicle exhibition
at Porscheplatz will be in constant flux.
The new Porsche Museum functions as a venue both
for the exhibition and other events simultaneously.
With its spacious conference areas and its exclusive
catering, it can also be used flexibly, even outside
working hours, for conventions and business-related
or private events. n
Porsche Motorsport
Porsche’s 2009 Motorsport commitment: more
brand cups and a bigger racing programme in
the USA.
40 GT3 Cup vehicles from the 2009 and 2008 model years will head to the racetrack starting in 2009 for the Porsche Sports Cup in the GT3 Cup Challenge
We don’t want to deny our heritage and you can see
it in every Porsche – our roots lie in motorsport.
For over 60 years, we’ve been driven by a passion
for motorsport. Our participation in international
motorsport brand cups with first-class teams attests
to this. In 2009, we will participate in additional
brand cups and expand our racing programme.
The family of Porsche brand cups
will continue to grow in 2009.
As an addition to the professional Carrera Cup
Germany, Porsche is launching a less expensive
GT3 Cup Challenge for ambitious amateurs. The
Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Germany will hold six
races in 2009 within the scope of the Porsche
Sports Cup. Mexico will also hold its first GT3
Cup Challenge in 2009. This will raise the number
of Porsche brand cups – the most successful
customer sport programme of any automobile
manufacturer – to a total of 15.
Success factors in 2009: the new
Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, ambition and
passion.
In the USA, Porsche seeks to defend its
championship title in the GT2 class for GT vehicles
nearing series production in the American Le
Mans Series (ALMS) with the new 911 GT3 RSR.
In addition, Porsche will intensify its role as the
engine provider in the Grand Am series in the USA.
As in 2008, the Brumos Racing team will employ
two Daytona prototypes with six-cylinder Porsche
911 boxer engines. But that’s not all, another new
addition is the Penske Racing team, which will use a
vehicle with a Porsche drive for works drivers Timo
Bernhard and Romain Dumas. Both drivers enjoyed
Grand Am series, 1 st race, Daytona 24, USA, Porsche Riley, Penske Racing
successful beginnings in the Grand Am series.
Bernhard’s record of success in the Daytona 24
was an overall victory in 2003 and a class victory
in 2002 with a total of six appearances. Dumas has
competed in Daytona four times, winning third place
twice in the class in 2002 and 2008. The Daytona
prototypes are full-blooded vehicles specially
designed for racing and ready for the Grand Am
series. GT-class racing cars, in contrast, are based
on mass-produced models that have been modified
for racing.
The racing line-up offers an exciting mix of long-
distance races like the opening event with the
legendary 24 hours of racing in Daytona. We’re
looking forward to a successful and exciting 2009
racing season! n
Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2009
Brilliant Line Up and Impressive Calendar
Herald New Season.
Reigning, former and potential champions join new
faces for this season’s dazzling crop of Porsche
Carrera Cup Asia talent, and with one of the most
exciting race calendars in the series’ history, the
2009 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) is all set
for a seventh sensational season.
Reigning Class A Champion Darryl O’Young of
Hong Kong is back, with a mission to clinch an
unprecedented third Porsche Carrera Cup Asia title
with Team Jebsen.
However, an intense battle is on the cards between
2008 champion O’Young, 2007 champion Tim
Sugden of GruppeM Racing, and 2008 title runner-up
Christian Menzel of Team StarChase. With Germany’s
Menzel missing out on the championship by a mere
two points last season after a nail-biting title-decider
in Bahrain, with Briton Sugden finishing third, the trio
are guaranteed to have spectators on the edge of
their seats all year.
But also some exciting new faces are sure to
provide plenty of surprises this year. Rodolfo Avila
of Macau makes his debut with the series driving
for Asia Racing Team. The 22-year-old competed
already in first Asian and then British Formula 3,
and International Formula Masters, before making
a successful switch to sportscars last year.
Jeffrey Lee of Chinese Taipei will contest his first
full PCCA this season with PTRS Motorsport, having
joined the series after the opening rounds last year.
Indonesian talent Danny Chu will be one to watch
this year as he capitalises on the experience gained
during his debut season in 2008. Mok Weng Sun
of Team PCS Racing returns for his second year in
Class A having won Class B in 2007. Also returning
to Class A is Dilantha Malagamuwa, who finished
seventh in 2008 and will be looking to improve on
his overall standing in the 2009 season.
After losing out on the Class B title in the final race
of the 2008 season, Corum ThunderAsia Racing’s
Melvin Choo is looking to avenge his loss with a
strong challenge in 2009. Facing Choo will be
Hong Kong’s Philip Ma with Jacob & Co Racing and
Singapore’s Yuey Tan, competing in his first full
season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia after getting
a taste for the series with three races in 2008.
Another new entrant into Class B field is Mak Ting
Hak, a Hong Kong sports and touring car racer.
The 2009 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia begins in April,
with the opening races held as part of the 2009
Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai
International Circuit before the series makes a
welcome return to Beijing’s Goldenport Circuit for
an entire weekend in May dedicated to Porsche.
Having raced on China’s Eastern Seaboard and in
the nation’s capital, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia
next moves to Southern China’s Zhuhai International
Circuit in June as part of the Pan Delta Super
Racing Festival.
In July, the series will be part of the Asian Festival of
Speed weekend at Indonesia’s Sentul International
Circuit, a fixture on the calendar ever since its debut
there in 2006.
Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2009 Calendar
Last year, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia helped
make motorsport history as Singapore hosted its
first modern Formula One Grand Prix. This year,
Porsche Asia Pacific is delighted to partner SC
Global Developments for the 2nd time for this unique
event at the 2009 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix
on September 27.
Returning to China for the penultimate meeting in
2009, the PCCA will once again take to the Shanghai
International Circuit in October as part of a China
Formula Open/Asian Festival of Speed weekend,
before the final rounds in November, the venue for
which will be announced at a later date.
Commented Porsche Asia Pacific’s Manager
Motorsport, Christoph Choi: “We are delighted to
unveil this exciting line-up for the 2009 season. It
represents a mixture of prestigious race weekends,
where we support two rounds of the FIA Formula
One World Championship in Shanghai and Singapore,
as well as meetings which will give our drivers plenty
of track time on some of Asia’s finest circuits. We
believe this represents the best of both worlds for
our drivers and our partners, as well as superb
opportunities for all the fans to come and see some
incredible racing.” n
Porsche World Roadshow Singapore
The Exhilarating World of Porsche
Returns to Singapore
Over the years more than 12,000 guests in over
25 countries across the globe have participated in
the Porsche World Roadshow events, and wherever
in the world it is held fans are treated to a first-
hand experience of the advanced technological
features and world-class performance of Porsche’s
legendary range of sports cars and SUVs.
The PWRS programme also provides an exhilarating
one-day Porsche driving experience where
participants, under the guidance of professional
Porsche factory instructors from Germany, can
test the scale of various Porsche models through
challenging driving activities and also pick up the
finer points of car handling and useful advice on how
to become better drivers on the road.
Porsche Centre Singapore organized the very first
and hugely successful PWRS in Singapore in 2007
Participants of the 2009 PWRS with the instructors from Germany
and this year they brought the event back on an
even bigger scale much to the delight of local
Porsche enthusiasts.
From 17th to 22nd February 2009 Changi Exhibition
Centre was transformed into part stunning
showroom and part driving school as close to 200
guests got the chance to experience the Porsche
legend up-close in a relaxed atmosphere and take
part in the driving activities.
Three German instructors were specially flown in
from Porsche AG to put participants through their
paces in exercises such as handling, slalom, the
moose test and braking. These activities, which
were specially selected for the Singapore leg of the
event by PWRS Manager Christian Lehwald, allowed
participants to experience the superb handling and
braking abilities of the complete range, including the
Briefing at the Moose Test Section
new 911 models with double-clutch gearbox Porsche-
Doppelkupplung (PDK) and the Cayenne GTS.
Participants were also treated to a fast lap
experience, in the passenger seat, as the Porsche
instructors demonstrated the full capabilities of
various Porsche models.
Porsche owner, Mr Michael Sng, said he felt that the
driving scenarios he experienced at the roadshow
will make him a better driver, and also helped him
appreciate the driving technology that his Porsche Cayenne is equipped with. Mr Sng said, “My
Ready to go at the Slalom Section in a Cayman S
An impressive line up of the latest Porsche models at Changi
Exhibition Centre
experience at the Porsche World Roadshow has
definitely increased my confidence in my own driving
abilities. The activities that we undertook also
convinced us of the remarkable driving abilities of
the Porsches, and how we can utilise technologies
such as the Porsche Stability Management (PSM) to
make ourselves better drivers and lower the risk of
accidents. I had a ball of a time, and am definitely
looking forward to the next Porsche World Roadshow
in Singapore.”
Explaining the format of the roadshow, PWRS
Manager Christian Lehwald explains, “Porsche’s
history of producing world-class sports cars is a well
known fact. The Porsche World Roadshow enables
us to convince participants of this reputation by
allowing them to test out the sporting prowess of a
wide variety of our Porsche cars not just in simple
everyday driving conditions, but also in challenging
driving scenarios that will improve and enhance the
participant’s driving abilities.”
Mr Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Stuttgart
Auto, the official Porsche Importer added that the
purpose of having the PWRS extended deeper than
just a showcase of the power and the world-class
drivability of Porsche cars. He said, “Having an
event like the Porsche World Roadshow gives us an
excellent opportunity to thank our existing Porsche
owners for their loyal support of the brand, and to
allow them to try out other model ranges within the
Learning the handling of a Cayenne in challenging driving scenarios
Porsche family. The event also helps the brand reach
out to potential buyers and fans, who will be able
to experience for themselves, the powerful driving
pleasures that only a Porsche can evoke.”
The next PWRS in Singapore is scheduled for early
2010. Details on the venue and event date will be
announced when available. n
