Equivalent safety cases
(See AMC 147.115)
(a) The AACM may exempt a training organisation from any requirement in MAR–147 when satisfied
that a situation exists not covered by MAR–147 and subject to compliance with any supplementary
condition(s) the AACM considers necessary to ensure equivalent safety. Such supplementary condition(s)
must be agreed by the AACM to ensure continued recognition of the approval.
(b) The AACM may exempt an education institution from the need to comply with all the requirements
of MAR–147 subject to the AACM being satisfied that training and examination standards are equivalent to
MAR–66, that the training hours are in accordance with MAR 147.85 and access is permitted in accordance
with MAR 147.80(b). Such an education institution must be issued a MAR–147 approval certificate on the
basis of this exemption and be listed by the AACM in accordance with MAR 147.1.
MAR 147.120 Revocation, suspension, limitation, refusal to renew the
MAR–147 approval or acceptance

(a) The AACM may, on reasonable grounds after due inquiry, revoke, suspend, limit or refuse to renew
the MAR–147 approval if the AACM is not satisfied that the holder of the approval continues to meet the
requirements of MAR–147 subject to the conditions of sub-paragraph (a)(1) .
(1) Before revoking, suspending, limiting or refusing to renew a MAR–147 approval, the AACM
must first give at least 28 days notice to the MAR–147 approval holder in writing of its intention so to
do and of the reasons for its proposal and must offer the holder an opportunity to make representations
and the AACM will consider those representations.
(b) Except as specified otherwise in subparagraph (b)(1), any MAR 147.15 (c) maintenance training
organisation which was accepted principally on the basis of an approval issued by an authority other than
AACM, may be subjected to the limitations and conditions of paragraph (a) and (a)(1) by the AACM.
(1) Surrender, suspension, revocation or refusal to renew the approval issued by the authority other
than AACM invalidates the MAR–147 acceptance from the date of such approval surrender,
suspension, revocation or expiry. The AACM will inform the MAR–147 acceptance holder of such
fact but cannot offer the opportunity to make subparagraph (a) (1) representations in this case.
