Once again Tommy Tuckers Mullet snagged a bag kicking 5 goals while Jack Berry, Jack Creevy and Scotty Wightman once again put on a show.
Wurd up ma peeps. How we doin!!! Can I get a hollla
(All My Peeps) Holllllllllllla.
It’s the middle of winter cold, wet and windy and everyone would prefer
to be sitting by a fire with a nice glass of Penfolds Grange. However there
are a select bunch of fine gents who are still making it out onto the track
for trot on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Sure the numbers have been
down but the lads who are getting out there are getting one step ahead of
the rest.
The weekend saw the C grade travel north north west to take on Port
Districts while the A’s and B’s took on Kilburn or the Chicks at Pryda
Park/Haslam Oval/The King Dome what ever you want to call it.
This week the fortunes for Bricey and his might C Grade continued to
fluctuate as he ended up having an abundance of players for the first time
in a number of weeks. The C grade new it was going to be a tough ask
against the highly fancied P Dizzles who sit close to top of the ladder.
As the siren sounded for the start of the game The Dizzles had already
blown out to a couple goal lead and led by 3 at the first change. The Kings
would have been a bit closer had they kicked straight kicking 1 goal 4. In
the second the margin blew open with the Dizzles jagging another 3 while the Kings could only manage 1 white pointer (that means a goal lol).
The lads once again put in a courageous effort however couldn’t get over the line. It was brought to our attention on Tuesday night at training that the
Kings have had an average loosing margin of 12points for the whole season. With so many tight losses many of the lads could throw in the towel but
the fellas keep on training and trying to better themselves. Which is a credit to all of them.
As Saturday night cam around the lads once again ventured to everyone’s local The Kensi. The weather was not amazing and many of the lads where
dazed and confused about there plans for the night. It was decided by many that the Robin Hood was the place to be as Will Calves Hackett was
having his birthday drinks down there. Highlight of the night was seeing an ex Pembroke Kings player being escorted from the Hood by security
after vomiting (someone else told me urinating I am not to sure) on the front bar. It was also good to see a number of the lads find a few partners for
the evening…………….
This week the C grade have a buy so get your buns down to West Lakes to watch the Kings take on SMOSH. The B grade have a number of ins and
outs while the A grade themselves have a number of debutants. Well done to The Shredder Henry Bills and Neshy for making there way into the A’s.
On a sad note The Pembroke Old Scholars Football Club extend there support to the Marsh Family after the passing of young Jackson Marsh. I didn’t
know Jackson personally however there are many Old Scholars Football players who spoke very highly of the young man. Our thoughts go out to his
family and friends.
Also before I forget get along to the Quiz Night happening this Saturday night at the Burnside Ball Room. $30 tickets on the door.
Regards,
The
Rambler.
It looked as if the King men where going to succumb and cop a fair old shalacking but the lads kept there heads up a made there way back into
the game in the third. The glamour side kicked 5 sausage goals 1 to The Dizzles solitary 1 sausage goal. The lads where back in the hunt finding
themselves down by 3 points at the last change.
Bricey pulled the lads in at 3 quarter told and gave them a rev up to hopefully get them over the line. It wasn’t going to be the Kings day as The
Dizzles jagged a couple more and got home by just under 2 straight kicks. With The Kings sitting 8th on the ladder it was a commendable loss against
the second place Port Dizzles.
The B grade was looking a bit different on the weekend with the Mr Jason Murph heading over seas and being replaced by ex a grade coach/skip and
the man who has to deal with our shenanigans at the Kensi Mr Chris Eitzen. It was going to be another tough ask by the B Grade against the Kilburn
Chicks who knocked them off in the years previous encounter.
The game started at a frenetic pace however no team could put the pressure on the score board. The Kings led by 2 points at the first change partly due
to the Chicks wayward goal kicking. In the second the game began to open up with The Chicks kicking goals at will; finishing the quarter with 5 goals
4 to the Kings 4 points. In the second half the Kings continued to hit the ball hard however couldn’t make any headway into the deficit. It was another
disappointing day for the lads which ended up seeing them go down by 55 points.
It was good to see young Razzy have another stand out game and getting in the best. The kid is only small; around Jack Baker and Ballys build but can
throw himself around. It was also good to see The Shredder nail a few snags.
LUKEY'S
LOOK-A-LIKES
In the first encounter between the Chicks and The Kings at Blair Athol reserve the Kings came away with a handy win which saw the Chicks loose
there first game for the season. Since that Kings Victory the Chicks have gone on to win 8 of there last 9 while the Kings have one 1 of there last nine.
The King men knew it was going to be a tough day in the office but had the belief that they could come away with a win.
As the lads ran to the field the heavens began to open and the wind picked up making the conditions tough for both teams. Both teams came out hard
with the Kings winning the first battle by being in front at the first change by a single sausage roll. Going into the second quarter The Chicks found a
second gear and where able to get themselves back into a lead.
It was the second half which brought the excitement the both teams trading goals. Tom Evans tried his best to get the Kings up by Kicking a long goal
and celebrating so hard he nearly popped a testy. This got the lads going and the Kings kicked a few snags to find themselves back in the hunt in the
4th.
As the game wore on it didn’t look like the Kings could get back into it but a couple late goals had them down by 7 points deep in the last quarter.
NOPT AGAIN I was thinking, not another loss by less than 10 points. The Chicks managed to snag a couple more in the last couple minutes of the
quarter to run out winners by 17 points.
