Networking Luncheon
Sometimes the best answers to our problems are found in reflection among our colleagues. Communities of practice
develop through networking and sharing lived experience. The Networking Luncheon offers attendees the opportunity
to participate in facilitated, small-group discussions about issues of interest and how they are addressed in school districts
of various sizes, covering a range of geographic areas. School district and community-based representatives are
encouraged to share their challenges and solutions in implementing the McKinney-Vento Act to serve children, youth,
and families in homeless situations.
Attendees will choose groups based on community type (e.g., rural, urban, suburban), number of schools, or special
topic. Issues such as identification, training and communication, transportation, interagency collaboration and communication,
competing needs across multiple constituencies, and wrap-around services will be addressed. Communitybased
partners may join discussions with school-based personnel or join a group with other service providers. Each
table will have a host and a list of questions to prompt discussion.
